Deck Description

Are you bored? Does Magic: The Gathering feel old and vapid? Got any useless bucks in your bank account? Ladies and Gentlemen, I have solution.
Use your bank account on nearest MTG marketplace website and buy some cheap cards, craft a deck, and challenge your friends! To double the fun, ask your friend to create such a deck too!
The Budget Decks -series is meant for your free time! These are meant to inspire you, and deck's value is meant to be low! (Between 10 and 20 bucks.)

How to Play

As the title already says, this deck is made to be the last part of "The Budget-B/W-Standard-Warrior-Trilogy". Links to the earlier decks are below.
http://www.mtgvault.com/northernwarlord/decks/budget-decks-warriors-of-fate/
http://www.mtgvault.com/northernwarlord/decks/budget-decks-standard-warrior/

Grab your swords, brothers and sisters. It is time to fight once more.

This deck focuses on strike early and striking really hard.
While cards like Chief of the Edge ensure your early aggro, cards like Blood-Chin Fanatic make sure that you won't get stuck in the middle of combat. If your opponent succeeds in stopping your aggro with annoying defenders, blow up your whole army to kill your opponent with style.

In addition to warrior creatures, this deck contains cards that make your life a whole lot of easier. While Devouring Light and Ultimate Price create holes in their defense/aggro, Rush of Battle and Spear of Heliod allow you to go in for kill.

Deck discussion for Budget Decks: Fight Once More

This is a great aggressive deck! I have a couple suggestions for sideboard and/or the main board. I would trade out 2 Revokes on the side for 2 Erase. I like that Devouring Light can exile a target attacking or blocking creature. I would take out at least one of Devouring Lights from the main and replace it with Kill Shot. The CMC is the same. However, you don't have to worry about keeping 2 White+1 other open. Other sides that can be helpful are Gods Willing, Last Breath, and Feat of Resistance. These provide protection from colors of your choice. Feat will even give a permanent beef up. Glare of Heresy, has helped me to win games against Abzan and Jeskai, oh, excuse me.., Dromoka and Ojutai. :) Raiders' Spoils is anther consideration. None of these cards are bank breakers.

I also understand that you want Warrior Ball. This is why, these are predominantly side suggestions.

I'll be adding some protection to the sideboard. Thanks!

Wow, after playtesting my own B/W warrior deck for days, I finally put it public and BAM you come with a nice one too!

Here's my deck, feel free to take inspiration and give some advice (especially the latter would be much appreciated!).

With the low mana cost creatures, you don't think you will need a draw factor? Raiders' Spoils has always helped me more than Rush of Battle, unless you are on the defensive.

I like Rush of Battle because it means I can just swing with everything and I don't need to worry about blocking thanks to all that lifegain. Adding the Spoils to the sideboard though.

Rush to Battle is awesome, but Raiders' Spoils is the bread and butter of a warrior deck.

I seen an Abzan deck exploit Return to the Ranks, it might fit in sideboard against the board wipes.

I'd add a Return to the Ranks. Most of your critters fit the profile. Secure the Wastes might sneak in there, too. Those Chief cards make the X mana Warriors pretty potent. Cast at end of opponents turn is like a haste-y horde out of nowhere. Also maybe a pegasus to pair with all your Humans and get them over the token decks you may face.

Looks like a fun deck but would be vulnerable to sweepers, if there anything in standard that can give your creatures some evasion?

I just order my "Dark Depths" deck looks like it will be a fun deck to play with check it out if you have a moment.

I´d put Valorous stance instead of rush of battle.

Valorous Stance is an awesome card, but it costs like hell and it doesn't help my huge horde too much.

I really don't know how you consistently put together reasonable decks with good synergy and good curves so cheaply, but from time to time you really amaze me. Respect the NorthernWarlord!

Hey NorthernWarlord! Nice deck you got here! for me instead of ultimate price id prefer choosing coat with venom because it is like a removal by giving death touch to your creature and also great with herald of dromoka and Blood-chin rager and btw it is a 1cmc card and instead of woe-reaper ill just use Aven Skirmisher because in DTK flying is really present so you need to have blockers for flying creatures and it goes well with coat with venom you can just trade with skirmisher for flying dragons. just my advice though

sorry for the bad english XD

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll see if I have a spot or two for the cards you mentioned.
And about your English... let's just say that bad English never bothered me anyway.

You should add Sun Titian to this deck or at least the side bored. If any of the warriors die you can just bring them back because of the low mana cost of each one. So that some how you end up in higher rounds your warriors can come back to the battlefield when they die so you can keep up your army. This will also keep all the perks that other warriors keep because they go back to the battlefield. Same thing with Spear of Heloid. Since it only cost three mana. Please consider this.

Sun Titan would be an absolute choice here, but I'm afraid Sun Titan is not legal in Standard format.
Thanks a lot for suggesting though.

I was just working on building your Warriors of Fate deck and a friend showed me some of the cards from Dragons of Tarkir to modify it, I thought Secure the Wastes looked pretty fantastic. Thoughts?

0

Yeah. That card is pretty awesome. The biggest reason why I don't play it here is (of course) the budget.
Another reason is that it feels a bit slow-paced compared to all the other warriors here.

North - I am returning to MTG after about 15 years away. I wanted a cheap and easy and strong deck to start with. And I chose this one. Nice work!

I am not limited by budget so I tossed in a few bigger ticket items and modified the list a touch. Can't wait to give it a try in a few weeks.

What are your thoughts on throwing in a Bloodsoaked Champion? I added in a Secure the Wastes, Obelisk of Urd, a Hall of Triumph, and a Brutal Hordechief. Thoughts?

0

Bloodsoaked Champion is a nasty beatstick which can just keep whacking no matter the defenses... As long as you are ready to pay the two mana. I think the Champion is a pretty good creature, and it was left outside this deck mostly thanks to budget reasons.

Your other suggestions, they are good late-game cards. This deck here tries to finish the game quickly, but if you create a variation from this deck that focuses on late-game, that's completely okay too. It can be worthwhile against some decks. The only thing that "bothers" me is that the Hall only buffs up a specific color... Thankfully many of the deck's creatures are multi-colored.

great deck but I dont think that chief of the scale should be a four of because, it is not the most aggresive card

Really nice deck NorthernWarlord. One suggestion. take out 1 Devouring Light and 1 Ultimate Price and put in 2 Raiders Spoils. Raiders Spoils is really the bomb in warrior deck.

What are your thoughts on Foul-Tongued Shriek? For the cost in a creature heavy deck like this it seems worthy of a 1x. Its fairly underrated.

Lord - I'd drop the Mardu Hordechief for the Mardu Strikeleader. It has the potential to create way more tokens. I'd also drop two of the Chief of the Scale as the toughness pump isn't that useful overall. The Obelisks I might drop to 1 or 2. Lastly I'd add some Harsh Sustenance if your critters get blocked it can still deal damage.

Nice deck! As others have already suggested, I also think Raiders' Spoils would be great in this deck. What do you think about Aven Skirmisher? Could help with the aggro since it's a flyer.

I also used it in my Warrior deck which is mainly supported by Athreos.
Check it out if you like. I'd like to know what you think of it. Additional advice is always good. :)

The Skirmisher isn't a bad card, it's just challenging to draw one late game. The Cavalry Pegasus would be the choice if wanting to go flying because it would raise 80% of this deck's critters to flyers. Way more powerful to do it for the whole group.

1
Posted 12 May 2015 at 16:34

Huh, Cavalry Pegasus IS a pretty nifty idea. Will consider it for my Warrior deck as well. 16 out of 25 creatures are humans after all. Maybe a little too less. I'll check it out.
Concerning Aven Skirmisher I was more thinking along the lines of Warrior Tribal. He does grow with the Chiefs, can be sacced through the Fanatic, gets the perks by Arashin Foremost, Blood-Chin Rager, Mardu Woe-Reaper, Rush of Battle and Raiders' Spoils. That's also pretty nice.
I'd appreciate if you checked out my Warrior deck and left me some feedback for it. Although my deckbuilding has gotten way better I still find it pretty hard to weed out cards and focus the rest them.

Love the deck, but I also love the card, Dragon scale general, which requires creatures to be tapped to bolster, has anyone ever messed with her?
So with dragon scale vigilance kind of makes it worthless, any thoughts?

Yeah, Vigilance becomes worthless in conjunction with her, "Enters battlefield tapped" on the other hand becomes good. And who needs Vigilance when you get to Bolster 4 or something each turn. :)
