Bureaucracy, in cardboard form! This is a Budget Elder Dragon Highlander deck (BEDH). It is meant for the Elder Dragon Highlander format, a.k.a. Commander. If you are not familiar with the format, I'll link it below for you.https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Commander_(format)I mostly use MTG Vault for my own private projects nowadays, but feel free to comment or request a deck of your choice. I've loved the Vault so far, and I like that they are still improving on it, as well as I am improving on my English language skills. So, if you like what you see, consider checking out some of my other budget-y work from the link below.https://www.mtgvault.com/northernwarlord/budget/
The moment I laid my eyes upon Nils I knew I was in love: who wouldn't love a guy that supports pillowfort, politics and +1/+1 counters, all in one package? This deck requires some thought to pilot effectively, but it is quite fun nevertheless, at least in my opinion. Drop some handy-dandy-dudes onto the field, then set some +1/+1 counters on them, as well as some on the ones your opponents control. Remember to negotiate with other players about who would like to have counters put upon them, as a good politician should!Once the game rolls on, try to setup a proper beating by stacking +1/+1 counters and holding on to boardwipes and ace-in-your-sleeve instant spells. You should aim to let your opponents handle each other (at least to some extent) before starting to land the killing blows yourself.Statistics, pros and cons. Consider reading these, especially if you are a newbie!Statistics: (out of 5)- Deck Speed: <><> (How quick the deck is?)- Creature Focus: <><><><> (How much this deck relies on creatures?)- Creature Size: <><><> (How big are the main creatures of this deck?)- Card Synergy: <><><><> (Do the cards of the deck help out each other well?)- Card Value: <><> (How much card advantage can you get out of your cards?)- Level of Complexity: <><><><> (How hard this deck is to properly play?)Pros:+ Can easily hunker down and gather their resources.+ Ways to negotiate your way out of dangers. Perfect to be played with friends!+ Can make your opponents with each other to death.Cons:- Outside several boardwipes, this deck is rather bad at generating card advantage.- Quite slow.- Winning is partially dependant on your opponents.

When your opponent is forced uo spend mana on attacking you simply start dividing their attention with other costs...Ghostly prison, kataki, war's wage and similar :)

Those are some good examples of cards which you should add if you decide to take a spin at a higher budget. Kataki is around 7,5 dollars and Ghostly Prison around 3 at this moment, so I decided to leave them out of this deck, at least for now.
Oh, yeah, kataki went up shortly after treasure tokens became popular, and neon dynasty and a few other artifact heavy sets kept it crawling :)I remember when I started using it mainboard in 2018. I was late at a tournament because of a friends lax attitude towards meeting early at tourneys. So the first game against an opponent was an auto loss, so my opponent looked rather confident. He played affinity, so when I dropped Kataki on turn 2 he was pretty shocked.
