27th of April, 2022, me and my wife rushed to the local hospital for her contractions were getting worse by the hour. We spent a long day and even longer night at the delivery ward, and by the morning of 28th day our son, our firstborn child, was brought into this world. The delivery was hard on my wife (and to lesser extent, me too), but she recovered over the course of a couple of days. Yesterday evening we finally made it home and have spent some peaceful quality time together; my wife, our son, me and our cat.The nights sure are long with a newborn baby, but I still find myself happier than I've been in years. My wife seems to agree, and we both look forward to bright future together. May our son grow big and strong! This deck is made to inform you all of this event, and the likelihood that it will reduce the amount of decks I produce on weekly basis. I know not many constantly follow these anymore, but I thought it was more than justified, knowing many of you have been around for quite some time (just as I have), and remained true to budget cardboard-gaming ever since. In addition to this annoucement, this deck pretty much celebrates life(gain) in general: may you all live long and prosper! This is a Budget Elder Dragon Highlander deck (BEDH for short). It is meant for the Elder Dragon Highlander format, a.k.a. Commander. If you are not familiar with the format, I'll link it below for you.https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Commander_(format)I mostly use MTG Vault for my own private projects nowadays, but feel free to comment or request a deck of your choice. I've loved the Vault so far, and I like that they are still improving on it, as well as I am improving on my English language skills. So, if you like what you see, consider checking out some of my other budget-y work from the link below.https://www.mtgvault.com/northernwarlord/budget/
I'll keep this simple: don't worry.Drop Trelasarra (and possibly other dudes that benefit from lifegain), then just gain some life. As simple as that. Once your dudes have grown up a bit, they can start working, just like in real life. Their job merely happens to be kicking the crap out of your opponent turn after turn!Other cards of this deck are either meant to provide lifegain and/or other resources, provide protection to your big creatures and removal for enemy threats. Enjoy!Statistics, pros and cons. Consider reading these, especially if you are a newbie!Statistics: (out of 5)- Deck Speed: <><><> (How quick the deck is?)- Creature Focus: <><><><><> (How much this deck relies on creatures?)- Creature Size: <><><><><> (How big are the main creatures of this deck?)- Card Synergy: <><><> (Do the cards of the deck help out each other well?)- Card Value: <><> (How much card advantage can you get out of your cards?)- Level of Complexity: <><> (How hard this deck is to properly play?)Pros:+ Can turn small creatures into huge ones over the course of several turns.+ Powerful against aggro and burn thanks to the various lifegain-effects.+ Several handy instants to outsmart your opponents with!Cons:- Requires some setup to perform well.- Semi-vulnerable against control.- Can be completely hosed by certain effects (lifegain prevention, etc.).

Congratulations :)Trelassara is interesting because it can scry every time you gain a life, so cards that can give you life on a longterm basis means you will have top control by gaining life every turn.Kitchen finks and melira might be a combo to consider if you can find a sacrifice card to loop the lifegain.Overall stuff from melira designs might be a way to make this into a combo deck.

Thank you!It seems like Kitchen Finks has really cheapened along the years. I remember it being around 10 bucks for the longest of time, but that was likely before Modern Masters was printed. Melira on the other hand is a bit too steep for my tastes. Nevertheless, thank you for your suggestions, and more importantly, thank you for sticking around for so long as you have. It really is nice to see (at least some of) the same faces over and over along the years.
No problem, and ironically I'm the only one in here without a face, just the original user icon :)Soon you will learn just how smart kids can be, in about three month's time the baby will practice how to play you and your wife against each other, by "calling" on the one that isn't the closest. They are little calculating schemers. Most parents I know, shelved magic for a while, then took it up again when the child was old enough to participate in the social life of other kids. 6-7 years might pass, but I'll probably be here by then.I've been considering creating some longterm databases on decks for a while. I like to have some solid material when I get back into playing my big project, so I might try to make it into some "back into the saddle" archive that would be perfect for someone out of the loop. The first ones will be pauper based, but as soon as I'll start gaming I'll need to learn everything at a more serious level, and that means tracking the meta in detail.
Congratulations!
Thank you!
Congratulations, and may all of you have a long, healthy, life!
