I wanted to give standard a try, and like the idea of controlling what I consider a tempo busting deck. My non-creature spells will hopefully tap, bounce, or "cancel" my opponent's attempts at getting a foothold. My creatures will hopefully synergize with Silverblade paladin for a quick finish. I especially hope to use Rootborn defenses to populate St Traft's angels, and/or send the angels doublestriking thanks to the paladin.

It's different. Lots of aggro for a control deck. I'd run some Terminus and more Detention Sphere. Here is my Azorius control deck if you need ideas. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=396817
Instead of Blustersquall you could run Feeling of Dread. If you're going to run a deck like this why not have Lyev Skynight?
AZ88, I looked at Feeling of Dread, and like it, but I prefer the Overload ability of Blustersquall which can overcome any Hexproof targets. Lyev might make it in, as you commented Invisible stalker won't do more than be a hexproof scratcher
By the looks of it Invisible Stalker doesn't do much in this deck. You could bond it with Silverblade but that is just 2 damage going through when you could have more.

http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=397621 this is my Azorius Aggro deck if this closer to what you are wanting. You could probably throw Geist in there some where I'm sure.
Okay I would run mote detention sphere and drop the stalkers, also run martial law a 2 of just in case. I would run snapcaster and more counter bounce spells board clear. Cyclonic rift a 3 of atleast to hit again late game for overload if need be. I would only run three of a board wipe and concentrate more on counter bounce after that. Hope I helped. Here is my new standard take a look let me know if you see anything j nedd in sideboard or main. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=398375
Snapcaster would be excellent, but I don't own any. Thanks for the suggestion.
