Most of the token generation is for chumping till I finish milling them. If i'm attacking it'll be because i want to trade or that i have 12 2/2 zombies. Artful Dodge doesn't fit the decks plan and would take up precious space in the build.

Thanks for your input and suggestion though.

So i took a break for a bit and came back when worldwake hit and found myself with an exciting new grixis deck.

I am still working with the deck however it is doing very well at my local FNM. (my local is very competitive usually with PTQ lvl decks). Anyway this deck plays very straight forward, usually you want to see your draw engines like halimar and ponder plus removal and a crumbling necropolis. the main idea is to cast cruel and mess up the other players day and with this deck it is very rare to have 7 mana and not have the appropriate colors available. This happens maybe 1/20. mostly because you are stacking your deck so much throughout the game. The deck is almost a 50/50 split on creature hate and spell hate. and the sideboard allows you to dip that split to 60/40 or 70/30 either way. I would love for people to sleeve it up and tell me how they did. BTW the sideboard is still a work in progress and i am testing Jace and double negatives atm. Again all your comments are welcome.

If you have a specific plan in mind you want your deck to be able to execute that plan 100% of the time(or as close as u can get it). You want the deck to work in such a way that you only have to mulligan when u have no lands, or the wrong lands. To do this you need to have a core strategy and build the rest of your deck to aid that strategy.

So here is a Baisic rule for deck building that a lot of players use.

It's Called the Rule of Nine

This rule helps the deck have a focused direction and higher consistency and makes it easier to change as you play and test it.

First you pick the nine cards that will make up the core of your deck. Only 9. Once you have picked these nine you will have 4 copies of each. this will give you 36 cards with 24 slots left open for lands. After doing this you will have a "First Draft" version of your deck. Play with it, Play against your friends and at this point you may notice that the strategy isn't working or you missing a crucial card. This is the point where you may want to take 1 or 2 cards down to 3 copies to make room for 2 copies of another card etc.

I hope this helps you with your deck and future deck building.
If you have the time please view and comment of my latest Deck.

The basic magic deck building tip is use the rule of 9.. Take 9 cards that you really want for your deck and use 4 copies of each, that will give you 36 cards with 24 slots left over for land. after that play with the deck and figure out what is missing or not working and edit from there.

The reason why you want a core of 9 cards with 4 of each is that it makes your decks very consistent in getting the cards you want so you can do what u intended the deck to do.
