Deck Description

The first deck I bought was Soul Domination which included many exalted permanents. Not long after first playing with the deck i started really liking the exalted ability and replaced all non exalted creatures with exalted ones. after about a week I took the deck apart. Now after almost a year of playing the game I re-made my exalted deck and made a few changes. So far I've had 9 duels and won 8. My spree was ruined today bye one of my friends on the last game.

How to Play

Well if you know how exalted works then you already know most of "my tactics." Just summon whatever will give you more power faster ASAP and save up things like Murder or Victim of Night for creatures you KNOW will be a threat. I mostly just have Cower in Fear to get rid of Krenko, Mob Boss' goblin armies but so far i haven't needed it, I've been wining before Krenko even becomes a threat.

Deck discussion for Tormenting Light (Exalted)

Is this deck budget?

I don't understand your question. how big a budget?

I was going to suggest Sublime Archangel but it's an expensive card, so I asked if it was budget. :)

Oh well I just bought Sole Domination when it was new and added the Exalted cards I got in booster packs and trades over the past year. According to the estimated value on this page the cheapest you could get the whole deck is $4.70. if its true then that's pretty darn cheap.

Good idea, mate, but one of the biggest problems with exalted is this: you have a bunch of big baddies to throw around once your field is developed, but they're easily blocked. And flying doesn't work. Trust me. Some good options are Tormented Soul or Deathcult Rogue, or you can use Gruesome Deformity, which really ups your unblockable power. Sublime Archangel is last: for only four mana, you double your exalted power.

I don't mind if my creature is blocked as long as it kills the creature blocking it, in fact I prefer that they block with what they have so that i don't have to worry about getting attacked unless of course my opponent's creatures have or can get haste. Back in the day i would use Tormented Soul in this deck, but once I start attacking with more powerful creatures Tormented Soul becomes useless. If he attacks with another creature Exalted wot work and if he doesn't attack he doesn't provide power in any way. So I prefer to just keep Duty Bound Dead, because there is a small chance of anyone blocking him at the beginning considering i can summon him on my first turn. As for the other cards I'll have to check them out. :D And thanks for commenting, lol... oh WAIT I have Deathcult Rogue but I don't use him in this deck because for one hes not Exalted and two I use him in another deck. And Gruesome Deformity I wouldn't put into this deck only to make room for other spells, like I said before I don't really want unblockable creatures in this deck but I do see how this one would really come in handy.
And finally, Sublime Archangel. If I owned this card it would be in that deck in a heart beat. No questions asked. I am actually gonna try to get four of them and put them all in there. Its not a legendary card so if i get them all that could quadruple my attack.

I'm just saying; Tormented Soul changes your Exalted into raw power. Somebody throws up a Fog Bank, you have only two Murders and one Victim of the Night to handle that. People who run Fog Bank are probably running control, and they'll just counter your creature removal.

True. The people i duel against don't use Fog Bank but they do use counters. Dueling against them two murders is usually enough but dueling against more experienced players it could prove very challenging. I could add Royal Assassin, but that wouldn't be able to take out Fog Bank seeing as it has no reason to tap. and it would take me at least six turns to take out Nefarox and make them sacrifice it.

Usually, I would second the Tormented Soul inclusion. Even though it doesn't provide its own exalted buff, unblockable with the other exalted buffs is very hard to handle. Though you do have other options that help you get through in the form of Angelic Benediction, Gift of Orzhova, your fliers and your Knights and your removal, so the Souls may be surplus to requirements here.

Only thing that I would perhaps look into changing is the Duskmantle Prowlers. Hasty exalted is nice, but I do wonder if there is a better option at 4 CMC. Desecretion Demon could work, acting as a meaty blocker and will wield huge power on the offence with exalted buffs, and if the opponent wants to stop it doing either then it acts as extra removal so your other stuff can hit through while making the demon itself even stronger. Of course, Sublime Archangel is well...sublime too if you're lucky enough to even have one, let alone two, given its price.

When it says, "at the beginning of each combat phase" would that be before or after choosing your attackers?

Before, so you can declare a different attacker if they tap it. They can keep it locked down before you can attack with it, but they'll lose a valuable blocker to do so. If they don't have a lot of blockers, it'll put them in a hell of a bind. More like a "How do I want to die?" mode. Theoretically.

Ahhh so once i say im going to attack, they have to do it right then? then if he isent tapped i can attack with him and they can no longer use his ability to tap him? if that is the case then i will realy consider putting him in the deck.

Yep, that's correct. It's an odd choice, but one I feel would suit your purposes.

ill put the card on my sideboard with Sublime Angel for now, and hopefully i will buy them both and replace Duskmantle Prowler with those two. That would make a sick attack. thanks for the advice. :B
