Multi-player infect deck with zero-life combo. This deck is designed to survive - and win - in a multi-player setting. Let's face it: there is a special kind of hatred for an infect deck. When you are discovered to be playing infect, the entire table suddenly has a common target: you. They know that you have instant pumps, and probably some trample. On the other hand, they also don't want their low-cost low toughness combo critters getting killed either, so they likely will hit you with instants, sorceries, and enchantments rather than attack you.Big mistake. If you want a no-holds-barred battle against the table, then this will prove to be just what the doctor ordered.
Getting Melira Sylvok out with Phyrexian Unlife means you aren't going to die when your life hits zero, nor are you going to get poison counters. Net effect: not going to die. And your opponents have been using their mana on things other than big creatures.Oops. I like to trick my opponents into thinking I'm playing an Elf deck or at least a mana generation deck. True, in a way, but mostly so I can play a lot of stuff quickly, since as soon as it is discovered that I'm playing infect, I'm under pressure to get them out fast. When your first Quirion Elves come in, you need to choose White or Black. If in doubt, choose White: there is one more Unlife than Hands of the Praetor, and Unlife costs one colorless less. That means a second Quirion Elves should come along soon and provide the black, and you may need the Unlife more than the Hands of the Praetor.Depending on how you've fared so far, after getting a good base of mana and Elves out, you could either concentrate on getting out a Praetor first or Melira + Unlife combo first. Hands of the Praetor is great because you can start assigning poison counters right away, and your infect creatures come into play already more dangerous and harder to kill. If you've taken a beating, the life combo will help keep you alive until you pose too much of a threat.
