[u]Basic Idea[/u]The basic idea for this deck came from finding [[Ardent Elementalist]] while looking through the cards from the new Innistrad set, which reminded me on an article (or deck, I don't know any more) about control using [[Mnemonic Wall]] and Flicker effects. First I played around with an Izzet version, but the flicker effects blue has are to expensive (2 mana+), and [[Cloudshift]] was simply to tempting, so I ended up with an Azorius version [u]Tests[/u]I have tested this deck against other pauper decks. The decks I tested against are a mixture of Control and Aggro and the result are recorded in a spreadsheet. If you're interested in details from the spreadsheet, feel free to ask. I'm open to all suggestions and ideas that may help to improve this deck.
[[Archaeomancer]] or [[Mnemonic Wall]] in combination with [[Cloudshift]] can lock a single creature (without trample) each turn: opponent attacks with a creature, you block and cast [[Cloudshift]] on [[Archaeomancer]]. [[Cloudshift]] resolves, sending [[Archaeomancer]] to exile and back, and when [[Archaeomancer]] gets back, you can return [[Cloudshift]], which has been put into your graveyard after it has resolved, into your hand again. The attacking creature is blocked, and it's damage is prevented. If you manage to do this with a [[Displace]], targeting 2 [[Archaeomancer]], you can return [[Displace]] and another spell from your graveyard to your hand, e.g. [[Sunlance]] or [[Dispel]], giving you further control options.
