Basic IdeaThe starting idea for this deck was a list with iconic magic deck archetypes, one of them being Mono Black Control (MBC) or 8-Rack. Most of the cards from this decks are way out of budget range but I've tried to capture the spirit of the deck and keep it functional. Keywords/ Mechanics in this deck you'll have to explain (Beside the basic rules):Exile, delve, bloodthirst, lifelink, discard, scry, -1/-1Cardpool and BudgetMass-strengthening-effects (+x/+x to all creatures) and cards with multiple effects are not allowed. Lands are limited to Common's and Uncommon's, no Rare's or Mythic's. Other cards are limited to Common's, Uncommon's and 1 Rare (max. 4 copies) per deck, no Mythic's.The overall budget should be between 15 to 20$. (Estimated mid value).Upgradeability/ Room for improvementsThis deck is bound to a general strategy, named "Control" where you hinder your opponent from using spells that can harm you while slowly dealing damage to him.As this is a general strategy, in opposite to concentrating on a certain keyword or tribe, it should be easy to improve the cards uses in this deck and to keep the deck up to date. Newly released editions will often contain cards that can be fitted into this deck. TestsThis is one of the decks I'm using as benchmark, to test my other Beginner decks against, the result for each test are recorded in a google-document spreadsheet and added to the description of each of my pauper decks. If you're interested in details from the spreadsheet, feel free to ask.
There are few creatures in this deck, but [[Guul Draz Specter]] works great with the control theme, while [[Gurmag Angler]] can be cast for free (or very cheap), if the game takes longer...which is exactly what you want. Most of your spells are used to keep your opponents creatures and hand under control, so your own creatures can slowly, but safely, attack. [[Shrieking Affliction]] punishes your opponent for having few cards in hand (which you can achieve with your discard spells), while [[Underworld Dreams]] punishes him for drawing cards. No matter how, he is punished!

NOTE: Set by owner when deck was made.
Cheap and effective, easy to learn, and still a fair bit of intricacy to explore. An excellent beginners deck.

I've made some changes after testing the dekc a little bit. One was adding Guul Draz Specter instead of Eternal Scourge, and Vampire Nighthawk instead of Vampire Outcasts. The deck now runs smoother, tough I'm still not totally convinced by Underworld Dreams, which has to little effect for it's price.
