[u]Basic Idea[/u]This deck started on scryfall, using the random-card function. If found [[Bloodbriar]] and decided that it could be an interesting base for a deck. The first version of the deck I did was red/ green, but when looking up for cards with the "Whenever you sacrifice" therm I found many interesting cards in black (surprise, surprise...) and decided to also make a black/ green version. [u]Tests[/u]I have tested this deck against other pauper decks. The decks I tested against are a mixture of Control and Aggro and the result are recorded in a spreadsheet. If you're interested in details from the spreadsheet, feel free to ask. I'm open to all suggestions and ideas that may help to improve this deck.
[[Bloodbriar]] is a strange creature as it does not only benefit from creatures dying but also from permanent's, which make [[Evolving Wilds] or the token producing [[Goldvein Pick]] double useful. [[Fists of Ironwood]] helps to make sure your creatures deal damage so you'll have something to sacrifice. [[Carrion Feeder]], or [[Gnawing Zombie]] if you prefer life-gain over +1/+1 counters, serve as sacrifice engine, eating things like [[Blisterpod]], [[Nest Invader]] or their token. [[Mortician Beetle]] benefits only from dying creatures but serves as a backup-plan here.

I think one has more game then your r/g variant. It's just more efficient to have free sac outlets like in the form of carrion feeder in my experience. Is the reason for choosing diabolic edict over chainer's edict the instant speed? I think for a lot of card evaluations thats usually the right move but in my brain edict-type effects you typically want to do earlier anyway- like if you're playing against bogles you dont even want to give them the chance to play another creature because then your edict doesnt get rid of what once was the 1-of threat- it gets rid of the the small creature. I think the recursion you get from edict late game outways the instant speed on diabolic but i could be wrong. I'd also maybe take out the qaurrys for some lower to the ground value. Something like nest invader or even something like acorn harvest can provide you with some good card advantage and easy recurrable fodder to sac to to carrion feeder. I'm also a big proponent of making the most out of your mana base- since this deck runs black- it's usually a good idea to throw at least a one of bojuka bog in there for graveyard hate (or at least in the side) and this deck could also abuse cards like khalni garden (free token to sacrifice) or if you have the wiggle room for it- cradle of the accursed (which seems like gas here because you get the sac trigger AND a token to use later)I'd also maybe take terrarion out- i dont think it does much here- you're better off with more creatures- maybe ones that have death triggers or produce tokens when they die to keep the engine going. you most likely dont need the color fixing- but if you're worried about it- something like myr sire or gleaming barrier is painless and will give you a 2 for 1.As for sideboard suggestions- sylvok lifestaff seems like a natural fit here. good luck with it! I love "Artistocratsy" decks- I try and force them all the time in standard even if they dont have the right support. i hope they print blood artist or zulaport cutthroat or something as a common one day.

The R/G variant was the first thing that came to my mind, don't know why, because black has a lot more to offer when using sacrifice-creatures/ effects. I'm using Diabolic Edict over [[Chainer's edict]] due to availability. My mono black control uses [[Geth's Verdict]] for the same reason, (tough I'm thinking of giving Chainer's a try due to flashback) but here the double black could be a problem. [[Wolf's Quarry]] was on my radar due to the fact that Bloodbriar profits twice from the sacrifice, once the creatures and then the food tokens (and you gain life, which is never a bad thing). But it might be to slow here, so Nest Invader, or even Butcher Ghoul could be an option, will see that after some tries. The same is true for Terrarion, which was there more for the carddraw and the sacrifice rather than the colour-fixing. I have used Sylvok Lifestaff in some equipment decks (modern) but there it was to slow, but in pauper it could just work. Thief of Hope could be an option. I don't think we will see a common Blood Artist or something similar too soon, just to powerful for pauper with it's large cardpool. Thank you for the suggestions.
no problem! I only suggest lifestaff as a good card against burn/blitz. It's def a little weird otherwise I think. Good luck with it! 3 khalni gardens might be a bit high i just noticed- lot of tapped lands- but it's def good in some number!
I was finally able to make some testgames. The manabase was way to complicated and slowed me down to heavy, so I went back to normal. Lead the Stampede was not really as effective as I had hoped, so back to Adventure Awaits. Young Wolf was changed to Nest Invader because the invader's token can be sacrificed, even when I don't have a Carrion Feeder on the field. Against MBC I tried the new Leather Armor, but Ward 1 simply shifts the removal by one turn, and this is not enough.
