My second attempt at deck construction. I started with the pre-constructed Vampire Onslaught deck, and I'm attempting to modify it to make it more competitive. Any input is appreciated!

Yeah, I think you're right. I should move those from the sideboard to the main deck. I'm concerned about the balance of cheap/powerful creatures. Bloodlord and Butcher are nice, but, I'm not sure I'll ever really get a chance to play them. I'll try swapping some of the bigger creatures for Nighthawk.
have you looked into vampire nocturnus it can help alot with later game boosting all your lesser creatures and giving them all flying aslong as you have a black card ontop of your libary, so with your deck your going to have a black card out well unless its a land in which case its counted as colourless but yeh its a very powerful card
oooh and if i was you id take out the taste of bloods for something like dark ritual it will speed your deck up alot hope my suggestions help you out anyways
use grasp of darkness, despise, geth's verdict, go for the throat, and consuming vapors for your removal spells. -1 butcher of malakir (mana cost is too crazy) +2 gatekeeper of malakir (its good. really good.) -3 bloodthrone vampire (not good. i know you use it with bloodghast and highborn. but still not good) +1 blade of the bloodchief. -2 vampire outcasts (it sucks if you can't bloodthirst it) +2 vampire hexmage (Very versatile) bloodlord is a great card, but in my opinion i would rther have anowon or drana out instead. might want to consider those for big creatures. or malakir bloodwitch with a bunch of weenie vamps. anyways just look at my deck for ideas. its not standard but it rapes
I think I agree about the Butcher. It's just too expensive to be helpful. Gatekeeper does seem awesome, but, I'm not really sold on the Hexmage. I'm fairly new to the game, though, so maybe I just don't understand the application of it. Are there really that many situations where it would be useful? Vampire outcasts are overpriced if you can't Bloodthirst, but, I figured with Sorin's Thirst and Taste of Blood, it'd be fairly easier to trigger that. And the Bloodthrone/Highborn/Bloodghast combo seems really good to pass up, especially considering how cheap they all are. Is there a better way to run that combo without the bloodthrones?
