Deck Description

This is a deck I just purchased from a friend of mine. Not sure if it's good enough to use, or if I should change some things in it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Deck discussion for Blue/White Jace

Well some of these cards are really good, but I don't think these form a good cohesive deck. Lodestone Golem makes all of your spells more expensive and the Borderpost are just slowing your deck down. I'd say take those out and put in 2 more lands and 2 more Oblivion Rings. I like all of the Jaces. They'll give you a lot of card advantage and some more control. I'd say only keep the Everflowing Chalice in the deck if you are going to add proliferate which isn't a bad idea with all of the planeswalkers.

There are a ton of good cards in here, but it seems scattered. I don't think the Lodestone Golems or the borderposts have any place in the deck that really helps you out. I also think that you have far too many counters and not enough other card advantage like preordain or ponder. I'd make three changes right away: replace the boarderposts with Seachrome Coasts, replace the cancels with Mana Leaks, and replace the main deck Negates/Essense Scatters with Preordains.

Lodestone Golems are bad with your deck. do you want to play a negate for 3 mana? or Cancel for 4?

Thanks for the comments, guys. I sort of had the same thoughts when I first looked at the deck. I thought "Wow, this is some cool stuff", and then I looked through it again and wondered, "How is this supposed to work?"

So it seems that the Lodestone Golems should go. I'll also replace my cancels with mana-leaks, and I think swapping the borderposts for Seachrome Coast is a good idea, as is removing Negate and Essence Scatter for preordain. Any idea what I should replace the Lodestone golems with? Is there a creature that might work well, or should I just leave it with the Baneslayers and Knight of the White Orchid?

mabye 2 O-rings and 2 sun titans. sun titan can bring back Knight of the White Orchid, Oblivion Ring, Tectonic Edge or Jace Beleren if you dont have one on the feild already.

That seems pretty good. Oblivion Ring is a helpful card, and Sun Titan certainly seems powerful. He's pretty expensive, though. But hopefully Everflowing Chalice will help get him out faster.

Just wondering how much did you pay for this?

I paid $150 for the core of the deck, which was the Jace cards (3 Jace Beleren, 2 Jace Mindsculptor), most of the land and spells, and the artifacts. I added the creatures in myself.
