The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

A friend of mine is working on an Esper control deck, so I figured I would post my thoughts on it here and see what y'all think.

8 Counters
9 Creatures
7 Creature Removal
2 Planeswalkers
8 Draw Spells
26 Lands

Sorin, creatures, and Creeping Tar Pit act as win condition right now. My friend does not have a new Jace or Baneslayer Angel, so besides those I'm open to suggestions. Trying to make this deck competitive. Main thing I need is a sideboard.

Deck discussion for Esper Control T2

the sphinx in my opinion provides little or no use. it's just not cost-effective. instead use sphinx summoner and Sphinx of the Steel Wind.

The main reason for using Sphinx of Jwar Isle is that it has shroud. Also, the ability to look at the top card of your library does have some synergy with Treasure Hunt. Sphinx of the Steel Wind is a great card, but as it costs 8, it would be hard to get it on the field and keep it there long enough to use.

Yea, I don't usually like the playset of Sphinx either. Took one out for another Treasure hunt :).
