Give your opponent tokens, lots of tokens, let them suffocate from tokens. Give them something and take away even more. For Modern viability, just take out Sylvan Offering and maybe add one Beast Within. I just like the nuke-iness of the card in conjunction with Illness and Blood Artist(s).Recent edit:Out 3 Blood SeekerIn 3 Trespasser's Curse

Mercy Killing

Holy damn, that card's great. Thanks!
I made and played a creature granting deck a while ago and Mercy Killing was just awesome sauce in it :D
Could you link me to it? i'd love to take a look but you have a shit-ton of decks. :D
It's been a while since I updated it, so it still shows Mercy Killing in the Sideboard. Sleeper Agent was removed and other cards amounts shuffled to make room for Mercy Killing, but here it is:http://www.mtgvault.com/dedwards/decks/strong-hold-on-discipline/
Ratchet Bomb or Engineered Explosives for more hate against opponents tokens since they both destroy all tokens no matter their toughness. Which will let you play Hunted Horror with no reserve
I've been working on a UB similar to this for a while. Ratchet Bomb was an auto include, in addition to Illness in the Ranks and Virulent Plague.
Not exactly sure whether I should run additional removal/board wipes. The static enchantments do their job pretty well already.
Just brainstorming here but Shadows of the Past and Lumberknot probably don't have enough initial effect on the game when entering, yet I can't help noticing how well they each fit the thyme of this build.
Shadows of the Past: Hmm, I think the Scry is kinda negligible. I dig through the deck with temples, Beck//Call and Sultai Charm. Not sure another enabler is needed. The second ability is probably too hard to actually turn on as the deck doesn't run a lot of creatures (and I'm about to swap out the three Bloodseekers with Trespasser's Curse, so there's even less).Lumberknot: Pretty cool, despite being kinda slow. I'll keep it in mind for possible sideboard shenanigans. Thx!
Why not zulaport cutthroat instead of blood artist? same cmc, but zula can attack for 1.
It only deals damage when your creatures die. the idea is to get the damage when the tokens you give die.
oh thought it was all creatures.
Look at Swan song (best counter in this case) and Dovescape at late game. Why is Hunted horror on the sidedeck and not in the main deck? It is great for this deck.
Hey Koonamy, Swan Song is awesome! Thanks for the suggestion! As for Dovescape and Hunted Horror: Dovescape will stay a potential sideboard card for now as I don't see how I could fit it in the mainboard. Hunted Horror... well, it's complicated. I think the card's great but there are a few things that keep me from mainboarding it yet. For one it costs double black which puts too much strain on the manabase. Secondly and more importantly, the tokens my opponent would get are too few and too strong. I want to give them lots of 1/1s or maybe 2/2s since I can manage to kill them more easily with my enchantments. On another hand Hunted Horror is fuckin strong! I'd love to find a place for it here but for now I think that it doesn't support the theme well enough. It does make for a great sideboard card that could make this deck more aggro if needed.Feel free to try your hand at a version of this deck that features Hunted Horror and link me to it. I'd love to see what you make of it!Cheers!
Hi Morty! I started to play this deck yesterday and omg... I don't know if I the starter hand was too nice or what, but I won my 2 friend in vs everybody without problems hahahahaha. I have to play more with this deck but I give you my congratulations. This deck is amazing! Even so, I started playing with a few changes in the deck. - I took out 2 Falkenrath Noble for 2 Blood Seeker --> Less mana and a lot of damage.- I put in 2 Hunted Horror because like you said it's so fucking strong, but yes... sometimes it gives problems. So I put only 2 and soon or late it give good results.- I took out 2 Sultai Charm (so I didn't try it yet) because I put 4 Swan song and it's unnecessary. My fault. I thought Sultai Charm was not worth, but now I see it is, because sometimes I got unnecessary -x/-x on tokens in hand and battlefield so.. and always is ok to kill something. - I took out 4 Thespian's Stage. I know you want to make copies of Forbidden Orchard, but in 3 deck-color you need mana of the right color and it cost 2 manas (and this price maybe costs a turn) to transform it.- I took out 2 tapped mana and I put in more Swamps because at the start I had dead turns and I could play something like Illness in the ranks.I had some problems:-If you don't have a Blood Artist or Blood Seeker on the battlefield this deck lose many potential, so I add 1 Blood Seeker more ( 3 now).-It's true that Hunted Horror make some problems, but until now, it gave me good results.- I put in 4 Swan song (my fault) and it's not worth because some decks don't use enough sorcery, instant or enchantment, so 2 it's ok like you changed. With 2 Swan song and Dovescape in the sideboard you can make a strong counter against control-late decks.- As result of the changes, I had 22 manas (2 less than you) and I always had enough mana so I think this is ok.After those few plays, I made more changes again. Now it seems more to your version again. This is my version now, which I have to try seriously (but I really liked it! :D): http://www.mtgvault.com/koonamy/decks/disloyal-tokens-v2/Greetings!
Hi Koonamy! Thanks a lot for taking the time and trying out this deck! I played it a few times as well and was pretty happy with it as well. It's a lot of fun to play, especially when the opponent doesn't know what's coming yet.^^Bloodseeker really seems like a fitting alternative to Falkenrath Noble, I'll keep that one in mind for sure when playing it some more.Still not sure about the Hunted Horror, though it's nice to see that you had good experience with it.The manabase is ofc the worst part about this. Fetches and Shocks would be nice but I don't have those and they're expensive. Therefore I stuck to the Temples which also help to get to the crucial enchantments, so not bad.Using 2 land less is something I have to try out! The mana costs ARE pretty low so it should work on pure amount but I feel getting the right colors could be harder. CURSE YOU, FETCHES, why must you be so expensive! :)Again, thanks for checking out this deck happy you like it! Maybe we can make this even better in the future. At some point I'm gonna work on a sideboard so I can surprise someone with a rogue build in a game event. :DCheers,Morty
To whom it may concern: Just throwin out there that there've been two new potential candidates for this deck, Clackbridge Troll and Grismold, the Dreadsower. I think I'm gonna try out 2 Grismolds instead of the 2 Hunted Trolls. Clackbridge Troll would be nice but with CMC of 5 it's a bit more expensive than the rest of the deck. Anyone have any input on that?
Love this deck!!! I had a similar one that I tried out for a bit, but that was more based on eliminating the "entering the battlefield" trigger
A deck close to this list had gotten a top placement recently in tc decks. It used rakdos charm in main.
