Deck Description

This deck was built around a concept given by the card Goblin Razerunners, a cheap rare from Conflux. Personally I like the card in general, it's flavor, art, and abilities... so I decided to build a deck around it! This deck was challenging for me to make, as I'm not usually okay with parting with my lands... I tend to recycle my cards and effects as I play. However against my better judgement I think this deck could be a formidable force if played aggressively!

Though not exactly budget, this deck is pretty inexpensive. Life from the Loam is the most expensive card, but honestly you could probably just replace it with something else. It is also very creature heavy, which is another tendency of mine, so I would be interested in seeing a variant without as many creatures. Suggestions are always welcome!

How to Play

The general idea is to build up your forces quickly with help from Brighthearth Banneret who makes your bulky warriors a bit more cost efficient! Bramblewood Paragon gives all of your creatures +1/+1 and trample provided they enter after she does. The overall goal is to play creatures and swing relentlessly, pumping up Goblin Razerunners when he gets in the game. Countryside Crusher combos well only after you've played Goblin Razerunners or Ruinous Minotaur, so save him if you can.

Other spells are supplemental; Life from the Loam brings back some of the sacrificed lands from before. Llanowar Reborn is a nice turn 1 land drop (there are no 1 CMC creatures or spells) that can give a small boost to a creature. Bioshift can be a nice trick, and if played correctly can give Goblin Razerunners enough bulk to deliver a killing blow from his second ability!

Deck discussion for [Casual] Razerunner Countrymen

Edit 5/17/2013:
Removed 2 Bioshift
Removed 3 Ruinous Minotaur
Added 4 Arbor Elf
Added 1 Civic Wayfinder

I was having trouble ramping up, so I took out some of the problem. I love Ruinous Minotaur, it was just too much land sacrifice with him.

Have you considered adding a white splash to exploit Flagstones of Trokair? If you go that route you might even want to try adding Raze.

That is very interesting... I do like that! I don't know about Raze because my group doesn't really care much for LD, but if I could find anything else worth splashing white maybe so! Any ideas?

I just picked up a playset of Knight of the Reliquary on ebay for 34 USD. She would be a beater in your deck!! If you want to see a deck with her, check out my RW raze deck.
