Deck Description

I just wanted a deck that utilized master of cruelties.

How to Play

Just keep killing things until you get master of cruelties out and then make sure the board is clear of threats. Then use a burn spell to finish the job.

Deck discussion for Master Blaster

Nice. I like that guy. Just miss something to find him earlier. Not sure what it should be in standard format. Read the bones maybe?

I use Diabolic Tutor myself. Between that and 4 Masters, it's a decent chance I can find one.

May I suggest rogues passage.

Throw in Hammer of Purphoros so he can attack first turn along with the other ideas on the comments here

Also Skullcrack may be a more definitive direct damge spell as a finisher

I feel the deck is to one dimensional. You also have no cardraw or tutors so you are relying on topdeck or opening hand to get your creature. And you have no way of protecting him, its just all in "If you dont have removal I win". A deck with any kind of creature removal is just going to strait up win against you but you have to wait 5 turns to figure this out....

Coinflip deck that is unreliable. No offense of course just giving my 2 cents.

@ WrathofShane
What cards would you play in current standard, red/black vs creature removal & for draw?

x4 Duress would be very nice. Either wait until you have 6 mana to cast it before you cast your creature, or cast it with 4 mana and go for the creature next turn if its clear.

And for "draw" I would just throw x2 copies of Diabolic Tutor in the deck. Would increase your odds of seeing Master of Cruelty from x4 to x6. So much more reliable.

Overall these additions would really make your deck much more constant. I would take out x4 awe of the guilds, x2 Drown in Sorrow / Anger of the Gods to fit them in. Mugging would also be an option but seems nice for taking out 2 toughness creatures early game...

Sideboard x4 Dark Betrayal to replace doom blade if opponent has black creatures

The land ratio I will leave up to you. But you should most definitely run x3-x4 rogue's passage for this deck.

He is right. I like that none of your mass removal can kill your wincon, and I like seeing Master as a viable archetype. But to increase your win con count I would put in some combination of Rakdos's Return, Hammer of Purphoros, and Mogis.

The things that should probably change in the current decklist: Spark Jolt, Duress, Mugging, Diabolic Tutor. If I were you I would also try and find room for the cards I mentioned above and maybe Magma Jet/Temple of Malice for the scry.

But I understand if your budget doesn't permit these additions. At the very least try Hammer of Purphoros since it's less expensive than the others.

If you don't mind me asking, Why Mogis? I thought of that earlier but it just seemed like it would likely just end up dealing 2 every turn and never actually become a creature due to the lack of permanents in this deck list. hammer of purphoros does sound like a good addition though, what would you recommend I take out?

Mogis because this deck likes killing things and it likes dealing damage. Maybe your opponent sacrifices some creatures, well that's some more burn spells you can aim at their face. The damage dealing is the weaker section, as you are fairly likely to just reduce their life to 1 anyways. He's another win con, albeit a slow one. He was the weakest suggestion of the 3, tbh. Hammer is the best... I would take out probably the Tutors, they stand out as the real stinkers. But Duress is not great either. They really should be Thoughtseizes, but that would kinda ruin the "Budget" subtheme

Cool deck idea! Very risky to have only 1 win-con, but who dares, wins! :D Perhaps Bile Blight is an idea to add? Instant speed -3/-3 for 2 mana, to each creature with the same name. Massively destructive against tokens! Just a thought :-)

splash with green for signal the clans, add guttersnipe for your spells, and scry lands or spells. magma jet and act of treason also ok.

May I just say that you are relying on 2 spells to win you this in the long run....
Be careful about that sort of thing

I've seen a modern deck get sold cheap for $600
Modern decks I've seen are worth $1000+

What i would do if i had that kind of money xDD

If I had that money, I'd buy, like, 1 land that I'd need or 2. Then blow the rest on building up my Necron army

A big chunk of that value is from the shock/scry lands and the mutavaults.

Lands: budget = basic + guildgates....
Rogue's Passage is cheap though

Yeah originally it was under 50 until I added the mutavaults shocks, and scry lands. changed it because nobody was looking at it anymore.
