Deck discussion for Brion Stoutarm EDH

War elemental is boss, I need to trade for it I think I can find a place for it in my rakdos lord of riots deck. Its too bad they changed the ruling on the braid of fire, I am not sure if you know that already but I don't think it will do much in your deck.

What ruling did they change?

Are you talking about the fact that the mana that Braid of Fire puts into your mana pool empties after your upkeep? Because that's not new. Mana has always emptied after each phase, and braid has always only been good in an instant based deck.

This deck looks fairly solid though. Needs darksteel plate and swift foot boots

yeah damn right its new, cause I just found out about it. I just didn't think about what happened to mana after each phase and it kinda messed with me cause after I traded for it I put it in every red deck I made. Of course no one in my playgroup noticed I was playing bad magic by casting everything under the sun, using the mana from the braid on main phases and everywhere in between. For a while I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread, but hey only a rookie like me would think that.

Nah. I misread it too at first. Although I didn't go crazy, I picked one up for my Boros EDH. Once I realized what it actually did, I moved it to my izzet Edh, where it fits much better lol

I liked the Braid of Fire for the ability to pay for mana costs. Things like pumping creatures and activating the Isochron Sceptre can all be paid for with it. I was thinking of including a few more things that I could do with it like a Crystal Ball or some more instants but I figured I'd give this a go first.

Made a few small tweaks, like adding in Crystal Ball and the Swiftfoot boots as suggested. Lemme know what ya think.

fling and greater gargadon?

I was thinking about Fling, but I'm going for commander damage as it's a much faster way of polishing off opponents. As for Greater Gargadon, worth a look. Commander games are longer than average so the 10 turn delay doesn't hurt him too much. I worry about people seeing him coming and them saving a counter for it though.

That's what rift elemental is for :)

yeah. i just thought your commander wouldn't always be there.

use gargardon as defense you can get rid off of your opponents creatures if necessary by sacrificing it. =) then if he comes off throw it to your commander that's a good 10 damage =)
