so, all the opponent has to do is make sure that your excavator stays off the board, and your shapeshifter is useless? I'd suggest finding another ally to play instead of your spells. no real point in playing the excavator without atleast 8-12 other allies to set him off.

tendrils and tar fiend probably not needed. 4 black night, maybe gatekeeper of malakir, bloodwitch is probably a sideboard, grim discovery is great in this deck (gets back a land for bloodghast, and a creature), work on some first turn stuff ie duress, first turn creature.
12 creature copy cards is a little much dont you think? take clone out, cut rite of rep down to 3. seeing you have high casting cost stuff, maybe everflowing chalice, or duress insead of clone. then, -2 agadeem, that leaves you three cards to put in, and i suggest archive trap.
If you're going for a standard deck, mind sluice does not work, so take it out. Take out twincast, cut traumatize down to 3, and cut out memory erosion. good idea, but maybe a sideboard. Cut Nemesis of Reason down to 3, you dont really ever want to draw two in a game. Also, quest for ancient secrets is a sideboard, so put in in that section, out of main deck. Finally, take out sage owl, not needed when you play ponder (that's overkill). That's 20 cards out total. Add three haunting echoes, 4 board control cards (probably creature control), and you can kick up your cancel by 2 and your essance scatter up by 1. Good base, but too many cards, and a little of of your goal at sometimes. Dont forget, you have to stay alive in order to deck someone.
