I wanted to build a deck that relied on having Damia on the battlefield. I love EDH and the idea of thematically/strategically building around a commander appeals to me greatly. In particular, the idea is to make efficient use of card advantage/disadvantage and eventually sneak a combo in for the win.
The primary goal of this deck is to develop some early mana, empty your hand, and then cast Damia. I treat everything and nothing as a resource, as cards like Oppression and Necrogen Mists are very powerful when Damia is active. Effectively, you force your opponents to play at a disadvantage while capitalizing on the global discard to filter and mold your hand. I reserve cards like bottled cloister and null profusion until I'm confident that I have reasonable control over the way the battle is moving (specifically with regard to emptying my opponents' hands) and then capitalize on the extreme ability to dig for a win condition to close it out. There are a lot of slots in the deck that could be altered for different effects, as I favor cards like clone, progenitor mimic and control magic; but I understand how many people prefer to avoid these kinds of effects.
