I understand its slow and weak to aggro but that's where I'm looking for help. How do i strike a nice balance of long term power and card advantage with a rush stopping defense?First attempt at a bw deck not gonna lie i kinda threw together all the bw cards i liked. There is a theme the idea is to build card advantage with big creatures. Obviously if big creatures aren't removed they generate card advantage by killing other creatures and forcing your opponent to deal with them. In keeping with that theme I'm running four mutilates to clear out the weaker creatures and leave all of mine. Considering most of my cards are high mana cost the tributes to hunger and disciples of bolas should help me gain back life i loose in my earlier turns. The disciples will also give me massive card advantage because most of my creatures have 5+ power meaning 5+ cards. I understand its slow and weak to aggro but that's where I'm looking for help.

Problem. You are allowing your opponent to gain ALOT of life without the right cards to counteract your creater abilities. I like the ability to bring back your creatures, but the cost is REALLY HIGH! You can try to focus on taking life, giving life (then having the right sorecery cards to take it away. Just modify it slightly.

My only issue with this is that it has absolutely no ramp. Your mana curve is a massive 4, So by turn 4 you can play 1 of the 15 cards with a casting cost of 4. Its almost as if you sat down and asked yourself "Whats powerful and works well together" and got this as a result. I would love to find a way to make this work, unfortunately Black doesn't have a supply of ramp good enough to help your curve. Crypt Ghast and Liliana OTDR are both 4 cost. Doesn't help. Only adds to the painful delivery. You will have to survive ten turns to see this start to pop. After that though... Its all down hill for your opponent. as all of these are pretty much late game cards. Get rid of Essence Harvest and pick up Gifts of Orzhova. What creature are you sacrificing to the Bolas?Get 4 Godless Shrines and 4 Orzhov Guild Gates. (people will argue about this one)drop two Oblivion Rings for two Blind Obedience.Pick one. The Angel or the Demon. One needs to go. Pickup some kind of one or two cost black or white weenie in its place. Again, Its a really good start. But the mana curve is massive.
