Sacrificing Mania!

by mindslaver on 30 March 2011

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (15 cards)

Creatures (1)

Sorceries (8)

Instants (6)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

Use cards like Act of treason or Mark of Mutiny to gain control of target creature, they gain haste, so swing for damage, after that, sacrifice them with cards like Culling Dais, Mortician Beetle, Bloodthrone Vampire, etc.

Bazaar Trader is in the deck because if you don't have him in play, when you gain control of target creature, you swing for damage and then you sacrifice it, BUT, when you have a bazaar trader in play, you gain control of your opponents creature instead of sacrificing it, since there will almost always be creatures of your own to sacrifice. You'd much rather want to steal creatures permanently than sacrificing them.

Deck discussion for Sacrificing Mania!

Bazaar Trader can trade to yourself? I guess it says target player. Wow like the loophole!

Yeah, I also didn't know that until I checked it up. Thanks man! (:

I've always wanted to do a deck similar to this, nicely done.

With a Liquimetal Coating you could use Metallic Mastery to gain control of more creatures (or anything else of his you want) :p

Thanks! Yeah that would be nice, I don't know what to remove for those cards though :/ Hum maybe Sideboard then? The deck has none at this hour so that has do be done. ^^

If you wanted to go non-standard then Liquimetal Coating + Training Grounds + Memnarch is a really easy snatching combo :D

Does Gruesome Encore work with Bazaar Trader? That would be an awesome combo if it did.

unforchenetly it does not, i play something very similar to this so i checked it out and gruesome encore exiles the creature at end of turn so there is no point in gaining control of it

reassembling and sarkhan the mad are also excellent

i would reccomend
-2 traitorous instinct
+1 mark of mutiny
-1 fume spitter
-1 panic spellbomb
-1 jinxed idol
+4 lightning bolt

Yeah, that combo would be neat, also Reassembling is an excellent card, since it provides yet another creature to sac every turn.

PERCY!!!! if you can afford him :)

also i have play tested gull-draz assasin and found him to be extremely good in my black/red sac deck as a mid-game mana-dump; your deck seems built more around speed though so he might not be as good in yours

lavaclaw reaches are also a good mid/late game mana-dump

Nah, can't afford him :( Yeah I don't think Guul-draz would make it.. Lavaclaw Reaches will be added when I can afford 3-4 ^^

Bazaar trader sadly really wouldn't work in this way. It says "Target player gains control of target artifact, creature, or land you control."

Note the part that says :YOU CONTROL"

It also says this at http://magiccards.info/ : You may target yourself with Bazaar Trader's ability. Normally, this won't have any visible effect. However, the ability would override an effect with a limited duration that gave you control of a permanent. For example, if you temporarily gained control of a creature with Act of Treason, targeting yourself and that creature with Bazaar Trader's ability would then cause you to gain control of the creature indefinitely." so yeah, it does work.

Isn't that a bit too intensive mana cost? And I'd like to keep it Standard, but I'm relative new to Magic, I thought standard where from Zen-present?

I would remove the bloodthrone vampires, as chances are you have something else you can sacrifice the creatures you get from your opponent. You don't get much advantage from sacrificing with bloodthrone vampires as you would normally do it after the attack phase, since you want to attack with the creature you have borrowed, and then why sacrifice with bloodthrone vampire since it is just an until end of turn effect and can't attack anymore.

A friend of mine did a similar thing with his vampire deck. Have you considered Viscera Seer as a way to sac creatures and scry through your deck? What my friend did was to put Blade of the Bloodchief on a Pawn of Ulamog. Captured my creature, sacked it for +2/+2 counters on Pawn, spawned Eldrazi and sacked them to scry through for his next Mark of Mutiny.

I have a vampire deck that does that! To be honest I would never play it without the Viscera Seer. He is the glue that holds the whole deck together. I also play as the guy stated above, Blade of the Bloodchief, Pawn of Ulamog, Bloodghast and fetchlands.

It is really aggressive and it has been known to steal creatures attck for a bunch of damage and fling a 50+/50+ creature (thanks to the blade and lots of spawn tokens) at another opponent to take 2 people out in multiplayer in 1 turn.

You should really check it out. It might give you some ideas.

Please comment or follow me if you like it. (I'm trying to add exciting new decks each week now)

I love Mortician Bettle and it was nearly going to be in my deck as well except I included the Blade of the Bloodchief and Kalastria Highborn and the beettle not being a vampire meant I had to pass on him.
Glad to see somebody is putting him to good use.

Yes I do know about Viscera Seer, but I really don't think he cuts the mustard, but that's just my opinion. I do have to thank you though for letting me know of Blade of the Bloodchief! Didn't know of that card! It goes into the main deck.

Please follow me for further discussion on other decks :) I'll post interesting decks every week and gjhorton I like your vampire deck, It looks cool!

Well, I had in mind adding 2 mimic Vat, but I think it's not worth it if I have one Grave Titan.

go. see. About two weeks ago Me and my friend, which some of you may know as "rudeboy" were discussing what the new sword would be called. I said "War and Peace, it makes sense." and guess who was right?

Hi dude, well done with the build, I love the combos here, the only thing I'd really say is that you should definitely be keeping bloodthrone vampire in here, bloodthrone + blade of the bloodchief makes for a massive fling very quickly. I'd also add 4 bloodghasts and fetch lands for extra sacrificial fodder. I've been playing a similar deck for a while now, and I think I've got it as polished as my skill at deck building will allow. Check it out for ideas:

Indeed, it would be a massive fling, but it's only until end of turn effect so it isn't very reliable :( I don't like fetch lands, and bloodghast is way too expensive..
I like yer deck, and if you'd like to please follow me as I creates interesting decks every week.

I agree with having viscera seers. Besides their scrying ability they are great for when you have a furnace celebration but no way to take their creatures. You can scry with them and still pay 2 to deal 2 damage. Also, have you thought about flesh allergies? Those are great.

First of all, I don't play furnace celebration, I havn't updated the deck yet though, I've never lost without them anyway. Scry is nice but I think it's a bit excessive, besides I don't know what to remove them for, do you? I will get the update pretty soon. Flesh allergies seems a bit too expensive for what it does in my opinion.
