if you rite of replication the golem then it goes on infiinitely with no way to stop it, i think

No it wont go infinity since the Golem Tokens themselves does not generate other golems, it's just the card Precursor Golem itself which does that, however, you do get insanely many golems! :P You get 5 more for each original token, so that's 10, and then you get another 5 Precursor Golems, which generates all in all 10 more tokens, so that's 25 Creatures you get there (I think..) ^^

Ahhh, Rite+Precursor :) Heres some math for you...

Cast Rite targeting a Golem, and Precursor copies it twice so you get 5 copies of each Golem you already have, for a total of 6 Precursors and 22 friends.

Now, lets say you did that last turn. And you draw anothe Rite. This is where things get fun.

Cast Rite, targeting a precursor. SIX precursors see a spell targeting only one Golem, so each of them copies it for each of your golems. But thats not all.... Right now we are looking at this:

Stack:
7. Precursor Golem trigger
6. Precursor Golem trigger
5. Precursor Golem trigger
4. Precursor Golem trigger
3. Precursor Golem trigger
2. Precursor Golem trigger
1. Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a golem token

In Play:
6 Precursor Golems
22 Golem tokens

Which turns into this:

13-34. 21 copies of a Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token
7-12. 6 copies of a Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Precursor Golem
6. Precursor Golem trigger
5. Precursor Golem trigger
4. Precursor Golem trigger
3. Precursor Golem trigger
2. Precursor Golem trigger
1. Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a golem token

In Play:
6 Precursor Golems
22 Golem tokens

Letting 7-34 resolve, gives you...

Stack:
6. Precursor Golem trigger
5. Precursor Golem trigger
4. Precursor Golem trigger
3. Precursor Golem trigger
2. Precursor Golem trigger
1. Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token

In Play:
6+30=36 Precursor Golems
22+105+60=187 Golem tokens

Notice how this is the result of resolving only ONE trigger? Now for the second trigger...

Stack:
42-227. 186 copies of a Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token
6-41. 36 copies of a Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Precursor Golem
5. Precursor Golem trigger
4. Precursor Golem trigger
3. Precursor Golem trigger
2. Precursor Golem trigger
1. Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token

In Play:
6+30=36 Precursor Golems
22+105+60=187 Golem tokens

After that resolves, we get the following:

Stack:
5. Precursor Golem trigger
4. Precursor Golem trigger
3. Precursor Golem trigger
2. Precursor Golem trigger
1. Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token

In Play:
36+180=216 Precursor Golems
187+930+360=1477 Golem tokens

Now the Third trigger...

Stack:
221-1696. 1476 copies of a Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token
5-220. 216 copies of a Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Precursor Golem
4. Precursor Golem trigger
3. Precursor Golem trigger
2. Precursor Golem trigger
1. Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token

In Play:
216 Precursor Golems
1477 Golem tokens

Resolves...

Stack:
4. Precursor Golem trigger
3. Precursor Golem trigger
2. Precursor Golem trigger
1. Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token

In Play:
216+1080=1296 Precursor Golems
1477+7380+2160=11,017 Golem tokens

Now the fourth trigger...

Stack:
1300-12315. 11,016 copies of a Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token
4-1299. 1296 copies of a Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Precursor Golem
3. Precursor Golem trigger
2. Precursor Golem trigger
1. Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token

In Play:
1296 Precursor Golems
11,017 Golem tokens

Resolves....

Stack:
3. Precursor Golem trigger
2. Precursor Golem trigger
1. Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token

In Play:
1296+6480=7776 Precursor Golems
11,017+55,080+12,960=79,057 Golem tokens

And the fifth...

Stack:
7779-86,834. 79,056 copies of a Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token
3-7778. 7776 copies of a Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Precursor Golem
2. Precursor Golem trigger
1. Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token

In Play:
7776 Precursor Golems
79,057 Golem tokens

Giving us...

Stack:
2. Precursor Golem trigger
1. Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token

In Play:
7776+38,880=46,656 Precursor Golems
79,057+395,280+77,760=552,097 Golem tokens

And the sixth and final trigger...
46,658-598,754. 552,096 copies of a Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token
2-46,657. 46,656 copies of a Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Precursor Golem
1. Kicked Rite of Replication targeting a Golem token

In Play:
46,656 Precursor Golems
552,097 Golem tokens

Resolves...

In Play:
46,656+233,280=279,936 Precursor Golems
552,097+2,760,480+466,560=3,779,137 Golem tokens

And finally the last Rite of Replication Resolves, giving us either 5 more Precursors or 5 more Golem tokens, your choice.

Now if you have a third.....

Ahoy mate! Looks like I'll have to buy me some tokens then! Thanks for that mindblowing calculation, would it be the same if I twincasted the first kicked Rite of Replication? Or do I need two of 'em?

@ Betsy, that's what the counters are for.

This is cool and has potential to make gobs and gobs of golems, but it just takes so long to get out...it WILL take 9 turns no matter what. There has to be a way to get it out faster.

I might ne wrong but isn't there a mistake in your calculation? Early on too,

When the first trigger of the second rite passes you actuallly get 192 token because 22*6=110 not 105 ^^;

So after that it would be 1 512, 11 232, 80 352, 559 872. But I might be mistaken... maybe theres a reason I can't see at 3 am... after all, there's 5 missing, and the magic number with rite is 5....

@ Majician, thank you, I'm quite fond of it myself ^^ Yeah I know speed is a big issue, the only thing I can do is to put out kraken hatchlings as chump blockers, but I don't like that (+ it doesn't fit really) I just have it there because I got no other cards to put in.. :/

What do you suggest? Should I splash green for early ramp? Please let me know!

Twincast works just fine. Insaine mtg math is actually a hobby of mine, got any interesting challenges? My most recent one was "How much damage can I do in one turn by attacking with a single creature and no infy combo? Currently I am at over 1.7*2^72 using only 11 cards :)

Cool fact: MTGO can actually handle this. If you try a third, you crash the server ;)

Ok, but you got to cast them at the same turn, right? So casting twincast would be much easier than two rites..
You seem to be pretty good at yer hobby to, "how much damage one can do on one turn" which format? On turn one ? How much mana is available? I can't think of any monster combo right now but I'll check with friends and then reply, until then, cheers!

Nope, can be the next turn. All you need is the right number of Golems in play.

Hint: 3 creatures, 8 artifacts, Legacy. Not turn 1, though that may be an interesting puzzle, though i think I have an idea

0

But if it happens during the next turn wont it be the same as when I did it the first time? Not generating 3,000,000 tokens?

Ok, any mox's in those 8 artifacts? Let's follow each other now shall we? :)

It does not matter, all the Golems care about is the number of Golems that they retarget to.

A clarification: The set up does not have in and of itself the mana required to preform the feat. Last turn, you set up something epic. This turn, you swing.

Sure! I have a lot of decks here, feel free to check them out

Imagine your life total is at 20, and you have on the battlefield:
Darien, King of Kjeldor
4x Angelic Chorus
4x Soul's Attendant
4x Soul Warden
4x Captain of the Watch
4x Field Marshal
4x Sigil Captain (all equipped with Sigil of the Nayan Gods)

Now I'm sure there's plenty of other ways to buff your soldiers up a bit more, but now let's say your opponent, in a blind rage, attacks you for 19 and just for the hell of it you let the damage through.

Question: What is your resulting life total, what are the stats of your newly acquired soldier tokens, and how much damage do you swing back for if you attack with all?

That's always been an interesting challenge in my mind, never had the attention span to try and figure it out

idk how this deck really works but it seems to get a LOT of golems, if i can just get a lightning bolt in that would be hilarious on those 3/3's.

Precursor Golem is very attractive and there's many decks built around him, but I wasn't aware of that when I did this deck, so every thing was uninspired :) I knew about precursor golem and so I wanted to make a really troll deck featuring ancestral recall, and so I did.

I can actually be done in green in standard as well (see my Golem Splicer deck)

Few problems. First w/ the LONG post about Rite.I assume you meant w/ kicker to get 5 copies. I also assume you only have the copy golem and his 2 golems to start. If un-kicked you get 2 tokens and 1 Precursor (Who brings to tokens) for a total of 2 precursors and 6 tokens.

IF you kick it, then you get 5 new precursors and 12 new tokens. (They each bring 2, plus copying the spell for each) so you'd max after one kicked cast of 6 precursors and 14 tokens.

After that, you really wouldn't need to kick the spell, any copy spell would do.

Oh yeah, and Lightning bolt or any other removal ruins the party. Counterspells would not help, bc the copies are made first. You could counter ONE of the spells, but not all of 'em.

Doesn't take 9 turns anymore, Caged Sun, choose blue. Your Islands are now double islands (And they are now diamonds). If you can find some ramp up to a 6 cost arti, you could have it out 5-7 turn. Still very slow against current Kuldotha, BUT this is kind of a casual deck so it doesn't matter that much xD

Spellskite is an absolute must for this deck! it protects precursor which is essential as your win condition

0

People who keep saying they could protect this golem army with a counter hasn't read precursor golem. The targeting spell copies on cast, not resolution. The second they target a golem with a burn spell, it copies to all available golems on the battlefield. Your counter will only stop one copy of the burn spell (unless you're using Mindbreak Trap).

PEOPLE! I want to make it all clear, this deck is NOT serious! I made it in the middle of the night with a friend and I have no idea how this ended up on the front page, but thanks anyway.. It is categorized as fun, so don't take it so fucking serious!

Thanks to all of you who haven't been moody just 'cause some guy you didn't know created a deck with a funny concept.
