I found this in my box of old magic stuff from when I first started playing. I'm just getting back into the game so can someone give me some info and suggestions on some more modern artifacts I could use.
It's a pretty simple stiflenought control I will admit I'm pretty rusty at playing it properly considering its been a while.

I think it's cool as it is, but if you're going back in the game, I'd suggest Isochron Scepter for your Stifle and/or Counterspell for a full lock down. However... it ruins friendships.. =)

I just looked up isochron scepter that thing is nasty why is it only an uncommon.
I really don't know, haha. A popular combo with Isochron (which also has the nickname "[whatever 2CMC instant]-on-a-stick") is not blue, (the color pie has rotated a bit) but white : "Silence" and/or "Orim's Chant"Many lock down decks surround themselves with this. When I got back into the game again I was really surprised how much 'the pie' is shifting, but as of M10, I think, MTG got a new owner, and he/she wanted to make that statement by overhauling all colors Sorry, I'm ranting... Welcome back ! =)
BTW - the 'Imprint' mechanism isn't only for instants - you could make endless mana (not an infinite combo, though) with "Prototype Portal" and "Lotus Petal" =)
Crazy amounts of mana and artifacts reminds me when my academy got banned. Although from what my friends say mana burn is no longer a factor, I am definitely going to have some fun with that rule change. Oh and I also heard something about damage not going on the stack anymore is that true, because if it is, that kind of blows.
Yes, Mana Burn is removed entirely, to much joy for Elves, but certainly also for Blue. The damage is a bit of a grey-area. Not too familiar with it myself (the group I play in mostly surrounds the old-school rules) so I'm afraid I'm too little of a help there, but I think it goes a little like this:Attack ---> Declare Blockers and/or do stuff ---> Damage dealt simultaniously which means "Mogg Fanatic" can't sac himself AND deal damage because he's no longer there to hit/kick/flip-bird/yell-atHe's been replaced by "Goblin Arsonist"
I may have explained tht a little wrong at the end. What I meant was, that Mogg cannot sac himself and give combat damage. Sorry for the mess-up
You sir have been excellent help thank you. I'll be sure to look at your stuff.
Thanks Miles =) I'm just glad I was able to help you a little
Another great modern artifact i would suggest is to help draw. Howling mine. Or if you want a great creature blightsteel colossus. There is a blue spell that allows you to look through your deck to add an artifact toyour hand. Blanking on the name lol.
Interesting I got a few of the old art howling mines in my binders and was quite addicted to them for while, as for the collosus that dudes huge I'll definitely be looking for one. Thanks for the input.
you know... crucible of worlds might help you out. good combo with strip mine ;)
Tinker is the blue sorcery card that 2hp10 was referring too for the old school look.......nice card too pull out nasty artifacts like blight steel colossus and so on.....
Sundering Titan is also a nice, destructive pet to tinker for, hehe
Definitley, that card could really put the hurt on opponents while not hurting me since I have a degree from a certain tolarion academy.
Not sure if it fits but what about an Unwinding Clock?
