I've done this. It's a good idea, and it does work, but you don't want four of each shrine just sitting in your hand.

A few counterspells can fix the issue somewhat, but does anybody have any suggestions on comabating rath? I've played against all kinds of crazy decks including all-land decks, all-artifact decks, etc. It does really well against everything but field-clearing decks... Any suggestions?
This is true, Sliver decks fall to cards like Wrath of God. I'm trying to fix that.
Most of these non-Sliver cards are amazing, and scream complete control. I don't know about your choice for the actual Slivers though. It seems a bit random. I know Slivers can do anything you want them to, and that's why they're great. But I think using them in a theme makes them all the more powerful. Gaea's Cradle combined with Sliver Queen and Gemhide Sliver gives you dozens of Slivers every turn, and it just keeps doubling for every turn you don't completely kill your opponent. Add Sliver Legion and they're not only a giant army, they're a giant army with giant power and toughness.
Ah! Urza's Incubator!!! Who did I NOT think of that sooner!!!
The thing is, you don't need all those different types of land and artifact lands, because your Slivers all produce every kind of land! Gemhide Sliver for the win!!! You can focus your deck less on land and more on other spells like Coat of Arms, Holy Day, the Hondens, etc. You're deck is decent, because it's a Sliver deck, and they're awesome... But you should add a theme to it to make it truly dominant. Mill, Flying, hundreds of creatures in under 10 turns...etc.
@Archangel-Poison is fun, but it's not the most useful Sliver mechanism. @incubus-I have a Sliver deck that has won a huge percent of its matches so far. It's doesn't use a ton of the Sliver mechanisms that you normally would think of, but that's why I love Slivers.... You can do ANYTHING with them! Check out my deck and you might find some ideas you like. It's a $180 deck, so it's not exactly the most cost efficient Sliver deck, but it works. Literally, you can get over 100 Slivers in play in under 12 turns. And that's being generous to the opponent.
LOL. This is such a great way to win. It really requires little to know strategy, and unless you're playing a counter deck, there's little an opponent can do about it. You just have to hope they don't get the chance to kill you first. I'm thinking that if you can get the right cards out quick enough, the game would be over fast.
It's a nice idea, and it really would drive me crazy to play against this deck, but at least with the people I play with, I would lose. there's just nothing to get around a counter deck, a mill deck, a discard deck, a burn deck, or something crazy like a Zubera deck. Like I said, I like the concept, but it's too easily beat. I could be wrong, I've never actually played with it, but it would seem like getting around it isn't all that hard.
I have been working with slivers for the better part of 2009, and from what I can see, you're off to a good start. When I began I tried to make a five color Sliver deck. It worked out for awhile and it won about 40% of it's matches. I had all five Honden Shrines in the deck as well as an Invincible Hymn. The thing is, not all five colors of Slivers are needed. You can narrow it down to just two or three colors and still get the effect you're looking for. Here's what I would suggest. -Green, White, with a few Blue. It's the most effective way to do it. You can have a few red and black creatures or spells, but with the Gemhide Slivers you will NEVER need the land. Promise. -If you have $50, pick up a Sliver Queen, Sliver Legion, and Sliver Overlord. They are all 7/7 creatures that cost one of each to bring out. Sliver Queen allows you to tap mana to put a sliver token into play. Legion gives all slivers +1/+1 for each other Sliver in play. And Sliver Overlord allows you to search your deck for a Sliver and put it into your hand. They're pricy, and Overlord is a Mythic Rare now, but it's worth it. -Also, if you have $25 to spend extra, pick up a Gaea's Cradle. It's a Forest that gives you one green mana for every creature you control. Combo that with a Sliver Queen, and literally in four turns after getting them out you can have up to 60 slivers in play. It's nuts! -Slivers need time to multiply. Defend yourself with white instants that cost one to play. Holy Day is a card that costs one white and prevents all combat damage done in a turn. Moment of Silence and several others do the same thing. They are essential to staying alive long enough to build your massive army. Thank you for bringing up Door of Destiny. I hadn't thought about that card until now, but it's SO perfect! I'm going out and buying one right away!!! And know my solutions are pricey, but if you want a Sliver deck that will own any competition, this one works. Props on using Ancient Ziggurat. You only need one Wild Pair. It's good, but it also allows opponents to do the same thing. If you don't have any money to spend, or you only have so much, I would for sure get the Sliver Queen and Legion first. The Legendary Land is only an added touch to make you unstoppable. If you have no money at all, stick with Gemhide Sliver and put a lot of low costs slivers in the deck. Might and Muscle Sliver are good choices, and Winged Sliver is awesome. There's also a Sliver that's very cheap that gives you flying AND if a Sliver were to be put in the graveyard, return it to the top of the library instead. It's awesome. Hopefully these tips helped! If nothing else, I strongly suggest going down to three colors. If you want to get crazy, add all five Honden Shrines to the deck. Pick up an Invincible Hymn to protect your life. Costs 8 to play, but it makes your life how many cards you have in your deck. Instant 30 or 40 life. Cheers!
