Deck Description

A white and green, cat-themed aggro deck with strong defensive elements. (Red plays only a very small roll.) It's called Lynx Knockout because it makes heavy use of lynxes and attempts to win through a sudden, lethal threat. (With the deck containing two "glittering" creatures and having Raksha, GOLDen Cub as its centerpiece, I was strongly tempted to make a pun on the obvious Shakespeare quotation, but I could think of nothing nearly clever enough to justify it.)

Comments and criticism are welcome. Although deck-building is my favorite part of Magic, I'm by no means a master deck builder, especially when it comes to non-standard formats (I didn't get into the game until Conflux), and I'd be very interested in any suggestions anyone might have for how this deck could be improved. (I'm sure it's probably mediocre right now.)

The deck can win one of three ways, all of which involve the use of Glittering Lynx and Glittering Lion for defense (as well as some defensive side-board cards, should it prove necessary):

1) The first way to win (and the intended way) is by mana-ramping into Raksha, Golden Cub, then equipping it, thus providing a huge power-up to the numerous cats I'm sure to have on the battlefield by then. (Raksha gives cats +2/+2 and double strike, one of the heftiest bonuses of any lord.) Explorer's Scope, Paradise Mantle, Lotus Cobra, and Garruk take care of mana-ramping duties for this strategy. Explorer's Scope and the pain lands help thin out the deck a bit in the meantime, slightly increases my chances of drawing Raksha while at the same time fueling my Steppe Lynx, Wild Nacatl, and Adventuring Gear so I can soften up the opponent a bit in preparation for Raksha.

2) The second way to win is to throw down Garruk and power him up until I can launch his ultimate. The glittering cats again play an important role, allowing Garruk to survive long enough to build up sufficient loyalty. (I think this strategy would work a lot better after side-boarding.) Again, Steppe Lynx, Wild Nacatl, and Adventuring Gear help to soften up the opposition in preparation for the bomb.

3) The third way to win--through attrition--is more or less a fall-back strategy in case I can't get my bombs to go off for whatever reason. With this strategy, the glittering cats would be thrown out for some initial defense, allowing me to survive a long-term exchange, while the pain lands and Explorer's Scope would be used to fuel Steppe Lynx, Wild Nacatl, and Adventuring Gear, which would provide some steady, constant damage.

The glittering cats provide solid defense from creatures on the ground and from most creature destruction spells. If the creatures become too much for them to handle, Lightning Helix and Path to Exile and available for back-up. Meanwhile, you'll see that the Qasalis provide some cheap defense against other threats like flying creatures, artifacts, and enchantments.
