Deck Description

Your goal is to defend with your Trolls and kill spells, while building up your graveyard to use the Whip. Reanimate your dead and swing hard with mythic level powers.

How to Play

Dump you deck as much as possible using self mills and watching for goodies with a little scry. Ramp a bit if you can, and defend with your Trolls and don't be afraid to take a few hits. Ideally, you want to either have Commune or Whip in your opening hand, but that's very pie in the sky.

Once Whip is out, you should stabilize quickly from your first massive attack. If it's your Adephage, it'll probably pretty close to game over within a few turns.

In a perfect world, you could have a Whip up around T3 and be swinging with something absurd! Rinse and repeat till they go bye bye!

Deck discussion for Reanimator's Whip

commune with the gods is really good for this deck and i would go more removal and cut out a few of the mythic cards. 4 adephage and 3 lord of the voids seem like over kill also hero's downfall hits everythign right now in standard so you should definately run a few of those but this deck is every bit as good as junk reanimator was before rotation and the scary part is it only gets better.

Commune with the Gods was an excellent pick - thank you!

Actually, you could add Pack Rats for maximum ridiculosity. You can add more angels of serenity and then have them return creatures to your hand, then discard those creatures for more rat tokens :)

Also, Think about Acidic slime for utility and Pharika's Mender to return whips when people sideboard against it. Fade to antiquity is a real popular card now since its the only way to kill gods. Alternatively, Add more ramp in the sideboard and convert it from a reanimator to a ramp deck just to screw with people :) that aside, I love this deck man :D Real FNM Material.

Selesnya charm and chained to the rocks also excellent for killing gods cheaply; and armada worm might be better than giant adephage, since whipping it and rescuing from the underworld brings out a token for you as well

Also obdezats aid lets you return the whip to the battlefield when you mill it as well as planeswalkers and any creature save worldspine worm

giant adephage is awesome because is copies it self so you have a permanent threat on the board by using the whip. besides angel , ashen rider, obzedat ghost council its the best creature to animate. I also like the idea of rakdo's lord of riots in this deck but you whip it for 4 then pay 3 mana for other creatures so you would need 7 mana for that combo which most of your creatures cost.

Armada wurm is also cool except getting the token is a garuntee. Instant speed removal or 7 toughness won't stop armada wirm

Indeed which is why i like it, still gets trample although giant adephage should definitely be in here as well!

You know, I dont usually care to play standard, but i really like this deck! I also cant help but feel scavenging ooze has a place somewhere in there, MB or SB.

Overall, really nice job!

Scavenging Ooze isnt really good in the deck, but its the thing that beats this type of deck easily....

I'd say you need more Angel of Serenity and Ashen Rider, also I'd say you need the 4 Rescue from the underworld and swap the Elvish Mystics with Sylvan Caratyd (sorry about the spelling)

rescue from the underworld is pretty bad. I ran a similar deck to this tonight in a small 3 round event, and went 2-1, losing to mono green devotion, and the top preformers were Lotleth Troll and Giant Adephage. the worst card in the deck, hands down, was Rescue. I had it in my hand multiple times, and there never seemed to be a decent time to cast it. there was always a better option. I will be replacing it in the deck with Treasured Find to return some of the spells that hit the yard because of a salvage or commune. (having to discard all your doom blades sucks when youre staring down a 9/9 mistcutter...)

its a fun deck though, build it and give it a shot!

That feels kind of weird because my friend played it at our game day and he was only brought down by mono red aggro, Rescue works better when you have that wallet stealer Voice of Resurgence is on the field as you get the elemental as well. I've never seen Adephage perform well but then again I havn't seen it in any decks recently. Quick warning if you do want to build the deck it is quite slow and goes down very hard to mono red and mono white aggro so if those decks are your local meta I'd suggest a lot of tweaks!

How about Deadbridge Chant? that could be fun, especially if you discard the expensive cards w/ lotleth troll

I would remove some giant Adephage's for 1 more ashen rider, and maybe consider obzedat's aid, you are in white and it can even grab whip of erebos.

Nice reanimator! I have one very similar, but I would run more Rescue from the Underworlds and drop one Commune with the Gods because you don't want to pull those cards too much to cycle through your deck and possibly end up losing your Grisly Salvage's or Rescue from the Underworlds. Three whips are fantastic! I only have two, but I'm trading for another one soon. Hero's Downfall is wonderful for this deck to keep players honest so I would add 1 or 2 more with an addition to Doom Blade's or Ultimate Price. The amount of creatures is a little steep I think when it comes to reanimate. You really want your spells to do the work so the more spells for this to reanimate, the better. I run anywhere from 13 to 16 creatures would be good. I would probably take out Sire of Insanity, Lord of the Void, and 2 Giant Adephage's, but I would run 2 more Angel of Serenity's, add some Lifebane Zombie's, Desecration Demon, Sin Collector, and most importantly.... Get ready..... Gray Merchant of Ashphodel! Yes, this card with lots of black mana symbols is a total destruction to players life totals. Such good Life gain/drain mid game or late game. I know this will still keep your creatures around the total you have now so you can make the decision, but this all is just an opinion anyways. Just to help. I'm posting mine up in a few minutes if you want to take a look. Good luck!

Angel of serenity isnt as good when youre using Whip to get it out. all it does is clears the path for an attack, and stuffs their hand. one is the right number.

I think 13 reanimation targets is too many. I'd cut the mainboard Sire of Insanity for another Whip of Erebos and the mainboard Shadowborn Demons for 2 more Rescue from the Underworld. Consistency is important, and you have enough ways of getting creatures into your graveyard that you don't need to run 13 of them, while you only have Commune with the Gods, Whip of Erebos, Rescue from the Underworld to reanimate them. I also think that you need a more focused creature selection. Running a bunch of 1 ofs won't do much if you can't get the right one. Because of this, I would cut the mainboard Angel of Serenity and the mainboard Ashen Rider for another Lord of the Void and Giant Adephage. You can always run the more narrow answers in the sideboard. Finally, I think that you need more maindeck removal. I think that moving Drown in Filth to the maindeck would work great.

well right now, the one ofs are more or less cleaner cards. Angel and Ashen to cause disruption, and Sire to dump someone's hand away and keep them scrambling. I think that as much as I like Drown, it's just not fitting quite right. I also found the removal to keep getting lost to milling - so I just kinda... skimped on them. Once the Whip is moving though... it's basically game over pretty quick. Void and Giant start pounding right away, and the Angel or Ashen coming out simply causes too much disruption for most people.

Sylvan Primordial. I ran it tonight in my list as a one-of instead of Sire, and it was pretty good. I will be cutting out all of my Rescue from the Underworld, as its pretty bad, unless you need a guy to hit and stick, which you really shouldnt too often. Treasured Find is better, because it can snag an important sorcery (or ANY card) back from the yard if you have to dump it.
