Would be awesome, if you'd play 20-21 lands...

Drop a Devil's Play & a Fling!..

Cool, I really like it! I would probably drop a cackler and a weird, or possibly a wild guess in favour of 2 or 3 'reverberate'. This spell is heaven when combined with X power spells or ones which require sacrificing; and even more evil when you're playing guttersnipe. You can fling and reverberate a vexing devil for 12 total damage if you have a guttersnipe in play. Pretty damn evil for a turn 4 play :)

Thanks for sharing this fun deck :)

Thanks for the insight man, I will definitely work reverberate into it somehow. Hoping this deck does me well in the future :)

Wait, what? If you reverberate a spell, the copy has to be legal too as far as I know? So if you reverberate a fling, you need to sacrifice a second creature. I'm not following the math here, what did I miss?

Do you mean if he has 2 vexing devils in play, you fling and reverberate and sac both devils?
Lets be honest here, when do you ever have 2 vexing devils in play? 0.o

I've been trying to run the little bastards for a long time but I gave up thinking of them as creatures as 99% of the time they are saced, so they are more of a 4 damage burn spell at sorcery speed imo (which is not bad it self) but don't rely on them as creatures.

Really like this deck tho, I've been playing around with Burn at the stake for some time but not really got it to work yet.

When you copy a spell you copy the bonuses of any effects that were gained through any payment of 'X' or through any sacrificing already made for the original (and any 'modes' you chose for the spell are copied as well, you can't change them) but no, you don't have to pay them again! That's the amazing thing. You can throw 5 mana into an X cost burn spell, then just pay 2 more to reverberate it and doubles its effectiveness (although you're really asking for a counterspell). Effectively you pay the costs for the original to 'cast' it, then reverberate just 'copies' it, you're not 'casting' the spell again.

Unfortunately copying spells onto the stack then doesn't count as 'casting' them so you don't gain an extra 2 damage from guttersnipe etc but casting reverberate itself does trigger those abilities. Increasing Vengeance is a nice card because of all of this too but it doesn't work as well in mono red, being sorcery speed means it cannot be used as cleverly.

Reverberate can be used to get round counterspells also since, if you cast your fling and your opponent plays a counterspell, you can either copy your original spell and place it on the TOP of the stack, leaving them to only counter the original, or copy their counterspell (if it's relevant) to counter their counterspell :) either way you're ensuring that you're not wasting all your precious payments for those types of spells.

And it's also worth mentioning that it can also work to counter counterspells too, which might help with your focus on winning quickly.

Very true. Especially since fling would be a high priority for a counter or even a murder.

Cool deck, pretty consistent also. I would run one more land and Pillar of Flame, but is ok anyway. Hope it helps, please comment my deck too if have time, http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=405388

This is a reply to Jestrix, having reverberate in there adds another tactic from my perspective atleast. say they counter your fling, copy it and counter their counter. Heres another scenerio: you fling, they murder, then you fling the same target. play it through per the stack and you come out on top essentially. I get what you are saying though. Thank for all the comments and feedback so far guys! I would really like to see this deck make the Top Decks!

i can't seem to properly grasp the play style of this deck, since burn at the stake krenko's command and battle hymn can be better cards, they're good but not the best for burn. pretty good though

comment on mine?

Imagine turn 4 with 5-6 creatures on the play field on your side. Play Battle Hymn for enough mana to cast Burn at the Stake, tap 4-5 of those creatures for 12-15 damage then cast Reverberate and that's the game. If you dont have BatS in your hand then the same concept goes for Devil's Play and Reverberate.

I love this deck, and the only thing I would consider modifying is replacing your devil's play with bonfire of the damned (if you have that kind of money)
