The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

Me and my friend came up with using undying and persist together and thought it would be interesting to play (and yes turns out we weren't the "first"). Apparently the rules state creatures that have both you choose which one happens i.e. first use undying ... then persist ... then undying.

How to Play

To get mikaeus out early use entomb / buried alive then exhume then start playing persist creatures and use start sacking them for sillyness

creature dies, lets choose undying to trigger, comes back with a +1/+1, creature dies, undying won't trigger but persist can bringing it back with a -1/-1, creature dies, persist can't trigger but undying can ... etc.

if a creature with Undying AND Persist dies, it is returned to the battle field with a +1/+1 counter AND a -1/-1 counter. the player controlling the permenant gets to decide the order the counters are placed, but you dont get to intentionally skip a trigger. the second time it would die, it would stay dead.

... you get to choose what order persist or undying go on the stack and as soon as one resolves the card is no longer in the graveyard and the other ability won't trigger / also now +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters cancel out as a state based action ... :P

interesting theory. it seems you are correct. I doubt you came up with it though, as there is a fairly effective mordern deck using the same idea...either way, thanks for bringing this up

what is your sacrifice outlet (other than rites and pod)?

Birthing Pod usually fills that role nicely
