Deck Description

Trying to build an inexpensive deck that's specifically designed to beat as many Modern deck types as possible. Please help.

How to Play

Runechanter's Pike is the win con of this deck, preferably equipped to Invisible Stalker. But it can also be equipped to Young Pyromancer or one of its tokens. There's also a chance you'll be able to win just by attacking with Invisible Stalker, Young Pyromancer, Elemental tokens, and/or burning your opponent.

This deck still needs some work, but so far, it's supposed to beat the following deck types in the following ways:

Storm: Easily defeated by an overloaded Counterflux. Just be sure to have the mana open.

Graveyard/Reanimator decks: Can potentially be taken care of by the one maindecked Tormod's Crypt. Three more in the sideboard for the second and third games.

This deck: Any deck that uses Runechanter's Pike or something similar can be stopped by Tormod's Crypt.

Artifact: Artifact decks, even ones such as Etched Champion decks, can be stopped with an overloaded Vandalblast. Just make sure you survive up to that point. Against Etched Champion in particular, AEtherize also comes in handy.

Birthing Pod: Destroy Birthing Pod early with Vandalblast. If that doesn't work, attempt to burn and bounce the creatures. Sideboard in more vandalblasts game 2.

Decks with lots of Hexproof/Shroud: AEtherize and Mizzium Mortars.

Sligh: Hold them back with Pyromancer tokens, anything with Pike equipped to it (first strike), AEtherize, Lightning Bolt, Pongify, Vapor Snag, Mizzium Mortars, Rift Bolt, and I suppose if they have any artifact creatures, Vandalblast. Use Tormod's Crypt to make sure Bloodghasts don't come back. When sideboarding, you may want to get those Essence Scatters.

Splinter Twin/Kiki-Jiki: The key to beating any combo is countering that combo. So you'll want more counterspells. Side in Essence Scatters for creature combos and Negates for anything else. Against Kiki-Jiki/Splinter Twin in particular, Aetherize can also hold them off for a turn.

Control: Counter their win con with the uncounterable Counterflux, and hope they don't have any anti-hexproof removal.

Any suggestions? What am I forgetting about? What should I add?

Deck discussion for Modern Izzet (Help)

What are you doing? Control? Or a more aggressive strategy?

I think it's pretty clear that this is basically a control deck.

I would consider adding Delver of Secrets along with Thought Scours/Peeks for instant speed cantripping to dig through the deck and power up Runechanter's Pike. Having only 7 creatures with your Runechanter's Pike as your main win condition, with no draw, seems really loose. Mana Leak over Counterflux in the main as Counterflux is way too slow against burn/infect/affinity. Delver of Secrets on turn 1 with counter backup can just straight up win you games. Also, what is your plan against Pyroclasm? RG Tron runs 4 in the main, so it might be good to throw in a Spell Pierce or Spell Snare. Hope this helped a little!

I would prefer to run Counterflux since it's uncounterable and completely stops Storm. I'll consider Delver, it's not a bad idea. Pyroclasm is definitely a problem; I guess you just have to counter it. Siding in Negates should help game 2.
