Deck Description

Super cheap infinite mana combo deck using Galvanic Alchemist and Axebane Gaurdian with defender creatures, all of which are commons. Once you get the combo running, you can kill your opponent with Devil's Play or Volcanic Geyser. Ludevic's Test Subject can be used as a secondary win condition, and can easily be transformed if you did the combo but didn't have Devil's Play or Volcanic Geyser in your hand.

One neat trick I plan on adding is maindecking Alchemist's Refuge and putting Laboratory Maniacs in the sideboard. Against a mill deck, I can flash in Laboratory Maniac as he mills for the win, causing me to win instead.

How to Play

On turn one, put down a land and do nothing. If you have a guildgate, put that down. You won't be using it for anything right now anyway.

On turn two, put down a land and cast Fog Bank, Gatecreeper Vine, or Ludevic's test subject. If you put down Gatecreeper Vine, retrieve a mountain if you don't have one. If you don't have any islands, you might want to get that instead.

Turn three, put down another land and cast Hover Barrier or Grave Bramble.

On turn four, if you have both Axebane Guardian and Galvanic Alchemist in your hand, cast Axebane Guardian. Otherwise put down another defender if you have one.

On turn five, cast another defender and cast Galvanic Alchemist soulbonded to Axebane Guardian. If you have 3 other defender creatures besides Axebane Guardian, you can now tap Axebane Guardian to get 4 mana and pay 3 to untap him. Repeat the process for infintite mana, cast Devil's Play or Volcanic Geyser, and you win.

Of course, things usually don't go so perfectly. You can cast Tracker's Instincts to dig 4 cards down to find the missing piece of the combo, and flashback it to find more.

As a plan B, you can transform Ludevic's Test subject and kill your opponent with it (I think I've won more games that way than with the actual combo). And if you have Axebane Guardian, some land, and some defenders, you may be able to simply burn your opponent to death.

Deck discussion for Infinite Mana Combo

Replace Volcanic Geyser/Devil's Play with (Or add) Banefire. Overgrown Battlement might be a good addition to the defender roster as well. That removes a lot of your vulnerability to blue control cards. Some graveyard revival couldn't hurt either.

Banefire and Overgrown Battlement aren't Standard legal. Even if they were, it wouldn't matter that much; even if they did counter Devil's Play, I could flashback it. And even if they countered that too, I would probably have another in my hand.

Hi, love the deck idea. I'd been trying similar stuff, but you have done it much cheaper and way more effectively. One thing I might suggest is replacing Grave Bramble with Doorkeeper. Doing this would give you another win condition if you wanted to mill their deck. Thanks again!
