This is a deck idea I have toyed around with for years. It isn't incredibly competitive, but it should be fun casually. It is loosely based off of the Fiery Dawn intro pack from Avacyn Restored, my first deck. The combo that this deck is centered around is Goldnight Commander and Thatcher Revolt, with some other small related combos.
The strategy for this deck can change depending on what you're playing against. Against control, it should probably be played like a normal aggro/weenie deck, squeezing in as much damage as you can each turn. The outcome of the game can be far more interesting against aggro however. You can appear to not be doing great, and then very quickly win.Against aggro, try to hold off your opponent until around turn 5 while putting down a decent number of creatures. Block with weenies, bolt threats, make trade-offs when necessary. But try to take as much as you can so you have a decent number of creatures around turn 5. Elite Inquisitor is great here as you can safely block smaller creatures while wearing your opponent down slightly. Maybe use Borrowed Grace for an effective block or trade-off.Turn 4, put down Goldnight Commander if you can. This can potentially turn the tables in the following turns. If you don't have Goldnight Commander, Ogre Battledriver is your second best choice. If you can get out both before your opponent kills you, even better. With Goldnight Commander and whatever else you have, attempt to combo out for a one-turn total beatdown. By casting Thatcher Revolt, all of your creatures will immediately get +3/+3 (including the Thatcher tokens). These four alone can hit for 17. If you have even one additional creature out from earlier, that's over 20. In addition to the +3/+3 buff on everything, Foundry Street Denizen would get a +3 buff, Akroan Hoplight would get a minimum of +4 when attacking, and Boros Elite will get +2/+2 from Battalion. This is only the best case scenario. You may have to work with what you have, or change your strategy based on the current situation. Maybe Ogre Battledriver and Hordeling Outburst can win you the game by themselves. Maybe you can get by with Borrowed Grace and some tokens. Maybe Thatcher Revolt with Akroan Hoplite is just enough damage. Maybe you can intentionally damage yourself with Battlefield forge to trigger Fateful Hour on Gather the Townsfolk. Use what you can and keep potential buff combos in mind.
