I know mana leak and preordain are completely amazing, and if i wasnt running the vengevine/fauna/birds i know i would have 4 of each. I guess i made this one to be a more tap out version. and if i had counters i wanted them to be hard counters.

As for the duress over despise, i understand why you would want that with caw/blade and splinter twin, but honestly i think against valakut i would rather hit the titans than the ramp. Also gideon is going to come back since aggro will make a comeback and he is always a threat for midrange/aggro decks. i definitely would want duress if everyone was still playing SFM/Batterskull, but now i feel like i'd rather hit the creatures. It all depends on what people end up playing honestly, so i'll keep an eye out and may make the changes if thats the way the meta goes.

I appreciate your input dentaform! do you think it would better to go to a more control-oriented BUG build than this vengevine one?

do you like the life's finale over the alternative black sun's zenith or consume the meek for this deck?

id be fine with the seas in the sideboard personally, since you still have ways to fight them with edges main. i like your list a lot though. i like the days in place of ousts, i think thats what i would do too, especially since you have better spot removal in doom blade/GFTT.

No spreading seas or card draw? Is sun titan just there to bring back tec edge? (which i can understand completely) just wondering. I do like the variety in creatures, but i feel like day of judgment or BSZ should be somewhere in the 75 to deal with aggro swarm. gideon helps, but gideon is so much better in conjunction with board sweepers.

just some thoughts :)

yeah man birds is sick but what to take out? and i really like the counters, especially pierce and deprive, but it's just so hard to make room. plus flooding the 2 drop spot isn't something i really wanna do. 12 is already pushing it, and there is 16 if you include mana leak. i just want to guarantee a turn 2 mystic or fauna shaman. lotus cobra could definitely make this deck sick though. i'll have to test it out. i just built grixis tonight though, and am having fun winning with mountains and tar pits hahah. i hope i can get around to testing this soon though. i just hope there is enough removal honestly. thats my biggest fear.

dude i hear that. ive got my jaces and am wearing them out haha. but i dont have any lotus cobras. ive traded about 6 fauna shamans and only have 2 left, and i got rid of my only vengevine. plus i only have 1 misty rainforest, so i dont know if it's gunna happen for me either. i have all the other pieces though.

just posted my list. it's titled "Stoneforge Bant (standard)" if you wanna check it out

preordain, inkmoth nexus, and any jace you can find :)

on a different note, i like the geth's verdict choice. i may add 2 go for the throats in addition though. spot removal is still really nice, especially if your meta is creature heavy, but that's just a personal preference.

DUUUDE yes! i've been thinking about the same thing. i really like the idea of going Bant with the caw especially with sword of war and peace now. i felt like i would want so many 2 drops though (stoneforge mystic, squad hawk, fauna shaman, and lotus cobra). let me post a list real quick & we can compare. i like the idea lot, maybe we can brainstorm up a list and tweak it. i'd like to start playing bant blade in standard if things do go crazy

this is really solid man. the only thing that i want to say, which you may have done already, is just consider play testing with squad hawks over the wall of omens. i know you are trying to make up for the card draw, but honestly, having tried both, i have found that thinning the deck using squad hawks is actually more effective than just having the extra card. they pretty much do the same thing. the difference is that you ensure yourself that you dont draw a hawk late game. also sqad hawk sets up a little faster and helps against luminarch and against other control matchups.

im definitely not saying go with the hawks instead of the wall, just try it out and see what you think. this is a similar build to what i used to run until i got a few big jaces.

p.s. i too think baneslayer is better than sun titan all day. ive been considering frost though. if you have the time, let me know what you think about that!

LOVE infiltration lens, but now the question is what to take out. i really like running 60 in main, just seems to be the most efficient. so if i run 2 inexorable tide and 2 infiltration lens - what 3 cards should i take out?

@pokopenian lol yeah, i thought about that when i constructed the deck, but it actually works pretty well. if you end up with it in your hand just keep it until you've buffed enough. then shroud everything. plus if venser is out then you can exile the angel, proliferate and bring it back in. it's a nice little cycle. that is if you havnt already killed them. it's saved me a few times. i have considered sideboarding them though.

@greg ill definitely check into the infiltration lens. i actually am running 2 tides, ill update that right now :)

hey man, i love vampires, and in fact, my main deck is a vampire deck. just started playing a little while ago, but here's what concerns me bout your deck. You have a lot of high mana cost cards - Drana, Anowon, and Kalitas, corrupt, blood tribute, and rise from the grave, plus Sorin and Liliana. And you only have 20 land. I'm just not seeing how this all comes together on paper. Could be a completely different story when you play. 14 cards cost at least 5 mana and then Exsanguinate benefits from having more mana - so 15 cards.

I do understand the theme of your deck and the addition of cards like corrupt and blood tribute. It adds to the whole life suck - life gain concept
I personally would cut the number of high cost cards down quite a bit. Also, assassinate is cool and all, but for 3 mana you could do better. Terror, Doom Blade, and Feast of Blood only cost 2. Plus you can instant with terror and doom blade, and gain 4 life with feast of blood. feel the same way about hideous end, but that one is more your call - you know the deck much better than I do.

So I guess in a nutshell, reduce the big cost cards, throw in a few more creatures (nighthawks, captivating vampire, etc.). Just a little friendly analysis. Hope this helps

P.S. I'm right with you on the Bloodghasts!
