Deck Description

A UR based deck, with a twist: use infect as a win condition. How? Curse of stalked prey + blighted agent. If it fails? Viral drake. Note most of the burn is not to be directed to the opponent, but rather the potential blockers

Deck discussion for Infecting Shit

Your deck looks awesome! However, I would take out your ogre because you don't have a solid red mana base. I'd put in the boar instead. A 3 mana red 2/1 first strike, which is awesome in infect. Also, you need a assault strobe. Giving a infect creature double strike is simply disgusting xD and last, A dark steel axe would be awesome. Think about this: turn one a land, darksteel axe. Turn two a island blighted agent. Turn three a mountain, equip the axe, play assault strobe, and swing for 6 Unblockable poison on turn 3. Mad game right there :) play on man! Hope this helps if you needed it.

Thanks for the compliment! Actually I never remembered Assault Strobe and you're right: that little spell makes games go crazy when unchecked (and is a BLISS that in Standard mental misstep is seldom seen!) About the ogre, is a 0/4 that with a few swings (who would block a 0/4? Then you pump the guy's power and suddenly, things go really downhill, especially when having curse of stalked prey on the opponent!) can go completely out of control, and is burn resistant (you would need black for cheap removal, or big burn instead). Darksteel Axe is a little down on the toughness, that is why I've placed Copper Carpace here (but I do not rule out the little axe in case i found them!)

After thinking it, i decided that you're right, Axe is better than Carpace (and more resilient with indestructible). I still wanted to keep the ogre here. Any other things this deck can use?

Well because this isn't a mono red, you can't milk your ogre for all it's worth. I mean, a turn five swing for 2 infect isn't that threatening. Ogre usually isn't blocked because its not at much as a threat. If you really like it then keep it but if you want a board threat to get even bigger with curse of the stalked prey, I'd throw in a razor swine boar. Or even keep the ogre and add the board as well. While your creatures are awesome, you need a bit more pumping. I would suggest mutagenic growth, but everyone uses that these days. And this is a original deck, so you should keep it that way. Maybe put growths in your sideboard in case someone is really whooping you. Another thing man, infect decks always need mana open. You need to be able to have a spell to pump up or bounce creatures. Silent departures isn't really the thing this deck needs. It's way too clunky and is just wasting slots that could be used for helping your creatures. If you feel like you really need to bounce, just use unsummon. I doubt that in most games you'll flash it back. Just keep that in mind. Man your deck is so cool I may make my own red blue infect :D but yeah this can do some serious damage. Just one more thing to think about, inkmoth nexus... Don't get me wrong, it is a awesome card, but you can't equip it. While it is a awesome land that can fly in a few counters, maybe alot of you pump it, it's a pretty expensive card. I'd rather invest that money into sulfer falls. Just a suggestion :)

About inkmoth, for all is said and proven about it, i think that it would be a little bit of a bad slot used, because of the price and the mana investment needed to get going (and that can get problematic). Ogre Menial: i used it here (and you give me partly the reason) because normally is considered a small threat (who would consider it a big one?) But, here comes the interesting: if for some reason the opponent gets him connect while a curse is in play, believe me, he's going to respect it, and also it will get bigger and out of burn range currently in standard. About the pumping, the thing going for this deck is that they can get some hits, then, lock the ground/air with the drakes and start proliferating (along with help from the volt charge), and that way you ensure the kill. Silent departure, I tested them on a self-mill and a zombies and I've played against them, and it always helps, but the problem with it is that is a little underrated one. And the duals are rare ones to find in my meta, so I'm ruling them out (and also against them is their price tag, a shame)

I agree about inkmoth and the dual lands, and your argument about the ogre convinced me. I think this will do awesome in FNM. Look at my infect deck if you want. It's just a mono green, and not as sophisticated as yours. It's pretty much point and shoot. Yours has a plan b with the proliferation, which is a really smart move. Besides, that, some more equipment maybe, tuning your creatures and spells, and I believe we have a winning deck here :D awesome working with you man! Hope to do it again in the future (:

Now that the price is coming down, Inkmoth Nexus would certainly help. Of course the dual lands are always good, but with 8 lands, ur talking at least 40 bucks.

I will build this out and give it a whirl. I love my blue green infect deck, but I think the red may be more fun- use the burn to destroy their creatures, use infect to kill them off, nice!

Yes, they help a lot. But the thing I've got against them in Standard, is that a lot of decks use them, so most expect them to appear and are well equipped to deal with them. Also is the factor of their findings: most guys don't expect to trade for them, and even though the price is going down, i'm reluctant to use them.
And believe me when I say red deals a lot of punch on infect! That volt charge proliferates counters like crazy (and deals with a blocker), along with the curse of stalked prey
