Enjoy Cubing but don't have enough players? Try Grid Cube a cube for two players (for the standard eight person cube draft look at my grid cube expansion which, when added, brings the total number of cards to 360).
Arrange the cards face down into 9 packs of 16 cards in a 3x3 square: ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦ each ¦ = 16 cards ¦ ¦ ¦Determine who goes by coin flip, dice roll, etc. Reveal the top card of each pile. The first player chooses any row or column he wants and gets those three cards (cannot go diagonally). Leave the cards below the chosen three unrevealed. So now that those three are gone the second player chooses any row or column they desire except for the one the first player chose (because there are no cards in that row or column). Because there is a missing row or column the second player may choose a row or column that has only two cards rather than the usual three you should get, however, there is no bonus card you get or perk because that's another part of the competitiveness of this format. If you choose a row or column with two cards it's not necessarily bad because those two cards may be much better than the other rows or columns that you could choose that have three. For example, say the first player chose the left column. ? ¦ ¦_____¦ = Card? ¦ ¦_____ ? = No Card? ¦ ¦Those cards are now gone. The second player now has there choice. If they choose another column they will get three cards as well.? ¦ ? _________ ? ? ¦? ¦ ? ___or ____? ? ¦? ¦ ? _________? ? ¦However, if the player chooses a row they only get two cards.? ¦ ¦ _______? ¦ ¦ _________? ? ? ? ¦ ¦___or___? ? ? ___ or___ ? ¦ ¦? ? ? _______? ¦ ¦ _________? ¦ ¦After both player have made gone, take the remaining cards and put them into the "Burn Pile." After, reveal the the top cards of each pile and redo until there are no more cards. When all cards are gone make your deck. Shuffle the "Burn Pile." If there are any cards that you drafted that you don't need, you may trash three into the "Trash Pile" and draw one card from the "Burn Pile" which may aid your deck. Have fun grid cubing broz!
