So I know this list has been sitting around for a while, but I was looking for a good list and this seemed to be close to what I was looking for. To be honest, I think Squadron Hawks should be replaced with Lingering Souls. While lingering souls comes out a turn later. It only costs 5 cmc to get 4 spirits and it is like you are holding up to 16 birds in your deck.

Sorry, didn't know how to set up a link in a thread and the comment field isn't letting me add an anchor tag around the address. If you copy/paste that link in a browser it should work fine.

The point is that if you are building a standard deck you will need more control and/or hit them more quickly. By the time you hit turn 4 and DoJ you will be nearly dead or beaten with the RDW decks that are running around, plus DoJ is counter intuitive for you. It will take too long for you to get back online. You need to either go aggro, aggro/control or control with this deck. You are trying to go mid-range, which is too slow for aggro, too slow for ramp, and not enough control to match another control deck.

I get the feeling this deck is going to be a bit slow for having as little control cards as it does and no ramp. I would do something similar to this list, http://www.gatheringmagic.com/inside-the-deck-uw-blade-deck-tech/ maybe replacing the 3 Dismembers with 3 Geists.

Okay... I did some testing and after thinking about switching out some things. I ended up deciding to drop grim discovery in favor of bloodghast, and tweaked the land. I am thinking it might be worth still running a couple grim discoveries though... I will have to keep testing.

I already have plenty of discard in the main and sideboard, if need be I can have recurring discard in the Mimic Vat/Liliana's Specter combo. If I add more, it will just cut down on my other removal (because we can't catch everything with discard) and the major threats, which should stay where they are number-wise.

thanks for the suggestion... I am thinking Beast Within would be worth considering, because it would be flexible enough that if I hit it with Bloodbraid Elf it will never be a dead card, and it can perpetuate the Glissa/Mindslaver combo if need be. Just trying to decide what to drop from the list. :-/

Take a look at this deck, http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=46794 I think this will help you get some ideas for what you want to do with this deck (especially if you want to use blood tribute). And this is what I have in my vamp deck currently (still building it) http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=46472
Basically, your enchantments have no synergy with your vamps, and the only vamp I can think of that has a discard ability is Bloodhusk Ritualist. If you want some discard in your deck, just keep the Mind Sludges and maybe add 2 of them (although they are pretty high mana cost cards for such a quick deck). Also Urge to Feed is awesome.

Can someone explain to me why so many people run decks with get land cards in a mono-color deck? Is it because it causes you to shuffle the deck? Why not replace these cards with Piranha Marshes (deals damage to your opponent) and more regular swamps? that way you have more real land in the deck, and you aren't doing damage to yourself just to sacrifice a land to get another one. (as an aside I do agree that these are a good idea to have if you are running a multicolor deck).
