Deck Description

THE MANA CURVE IS INCORRECT DUE TO THE SITE'S ERROR REGARDING INTERPRETATION OF PHYREXIAN MANA. I don't know why this problem is still going on, but I believe that Phyrexian mana are counting as 2 towards a card's CMC.

Deck built around abusing Rage Extractor. There are 23 cards that can trigger it's ability (that's including 3 Rage Extractors, not 4 since 1 needs to be out first!), which can add up quickly. One of the best features of Rage Extractor is that it can target creatures as well as players, so you can choose to go for the throat or kill some threats that are on the board, if need be.

Cathedral Membrane SLAYS titans.

Norn's Annex is just an amazing card in general, and dealing 5 damage with it is icing on the cake.

Phyrexian Metamorph is just insanely versatile. Yes, I will copy my Rage Extractor and give you 4 damage to think about! Oh, Rage Extractors stack, so next turn I'll play another Phyrexian Metamorph for 8 damage!

War Report usually nets a sick amount of life gain (all of my artifact creatures count for 2 life!), especially against decks that generate a lot of creatures. Then you can just board wipe and start over, which brings me to...

Frantic Salvage, an absolute god-send for an artifact deck! Your Creeping Corrosion now hurts a tiny bit less (that's what Negates and Nevermores are for, anyway.)

Tezzeret's Gambit is in over Gitaxian Probe because I'd rather draw 2 and do 4 damage than draw 1 and do 1 damage, although looking at a control player's hand is very tempting (I'm still thinking about Gitaxian though.)

It's 61 because I don't want to take out my lonely Spellskite! It has saved me in numerous games; I only wish I had pulled 1 more...Running 22 lands in a 61 card deck is fine in this deck anyway because of all of the Phyrexian mana being spent. If I had some Inkmoth Nexuses they would absolutely be in here too.

Please let me know what you think! I know this will most likely never be a tier 1 standard deck, but it sure is fun and surprisingly powerful. I plan on running it at a local tournament in the near future and see how it holds up against what's big in standard right now!

Deck discussion for Extracting the Rage STANDARD

its okay, i think though you need to narrow its intent down a little tighter, and youll be legit. you dont need 2 day of judgment in here when you have phyrexian rebirth, or the other way around, whichever. you need a planeswalker in here perhaps.. idk.. overall, id give it a 7 outta 10.

Narrow it's intent? Almost every card in here uses Phyrexian mana... the intent is to stick a Rage Extractor, and then deal lethal damage in 2 or so turns. It's a combo deck...I can't refine it's intent anymore! Haha.

Day of Judgment costs 2 less than Phyrexian Rebirth...but I like having a Rebirth in here as well to make the huge beater. This deck is all about stalling until I can combo out, so having 6 board wipes (including the Whipflares) really isn't overkill. War Report before a wipe is usually really mean, especially since I gain 2 life for each artifact creature out.

Thanks for the comment though! I've tweaked this some more since I've been playing it at FNM, I'll get around to changing it to what it actually is soon. You may be surprised to hear this, but I did win 2 out of the 4 FNMs I ran this in, and came 2nd in both of the other 2. This was against some of the top-tier decks in standard right now, too! Some of the games were VERY close (and I mean, VERY, close), but the Rage Extractor clock will getcha! I'd say this deck is closer to an 8/10 than 7/10, but it is definitely somewhat slow...It's pretty much just what I would expect out of a budget combo deck anyway. I'm just playing this for kicks (I run U/W when I want to get serious!)

i hate to say this, but i'm pretty sure War Report DOES NOT double dip for artifact creatures...

Oh, it definitely does. My friend made me look it up even though I told him I was sure about it while I was making this deck, because he was so stressed and didn't want it to be true haha. If it didn't count twice it would most likely not even be in here.

It's # of creatures + # of artifacts. I know my r00lz mang! :D

Why don't people look things up before commenting lol. Actually, the wording on War Report is so clear that you don't even need to look it up...

Rage Extractor always seemed interesting, it just looks like it would be a bit slow to get rolling. Cool idea though!

@Cardaconda2: no need to be a dick about it. when it was being used the tourney guys i hung out with weren't sure and judges told us no, hence what my comment.
