Didn't realize MagicAids was on this site. It looks sweet. But why again did you splash green instead of sticking with just Dimir? I mean, Assassin's Trophy is nice, especially for triggering Archive Trap, but I don't really see what Uro brings to the plate. Just life gain and draw? Are there better forms of draw and life gain so you don't have to splash green?
I added new data from UB Mill with Ruin Crab! I'll post it here:Hello, my Big Boys!As requested, I've calculated data for UB Mill WITH Ruin Crab!(I took the same UB list as the one shown in the video; I added 4 Ruin Crabs in place of 2 Fraying Sanity and 2 Inquisition of Kozilek)Here are the results:Adding Ruin Crab to UB Mill made it 11.6% more effective at milling. As stated in the video, our Sultai deck had a 21% improvement over traditional UB Mill. The difference is almost certainly due to the difference in lands. Our Sultai build had 25 lands, including 12 fetches; traditional UB Mill has 21 lands, including 6 fetches. I think we can objectively say that 21 lands are not enough. The question is: if we must run more lands, and more fetches, is it worth going three colors? I would lean toward yes since packing a 2 color deck with more than 8 fetches is pretty unheard-of. Even if we don't run Uro, Assassin's Trophy is quite versatile. Also, when I calculated the data for our Sultai Mill deck, I did not allow for Archive Trap when I had Assassin's Trophy because I assumed that our opponent would choose not to search for a basic. So, if we consider Assassin's Trophy enabling Archive Trap, the actual improvement may be higher than 21%.I'm sure we'll see both UB and Sultai Mill decks everywhere when Zendikar Rising releases, so we'll just have to wait and see which one ends up on top!Love,Daddy
I have a grixis mill that focussed on geomancer's gambit to start with.I one day got the crazy idea that mill is the best form of landdestruction that was ever made, so why not couple it with other landdestruction. With cleansing wildfire and geomancer's gambit in the same deck the opponent will either have to mill or lose their lands. No matter the outcome mind funeral removes 4 lands at a time.I once found the perfect amount of fetches to play. You don't want to start with a fetchland, but the rest of the turns you want to use them. You get to play two crabs before you trigger the first fetch. I think it was 9 fetchlands, but I cannot remember how many lands it had in total. I'd probably find out again with 8 crabs in the deck.
looks pretty strong i like it. Archive Trap combined with assassins trophy and surgical extraction....nice!But what about building some copy´s of Scapeshift in this deck? 4*Hedron crab and 4*ruin crap are crying fot that?
Scapeshift Mill would be most epic indeeed!!
Blackrazz:You'd have to know the past of older uro-mill designs to know why uro is good.Originally uro-mill was designed as a selfmill. Hedron crab is a selfmill card that has been traditionally used to mill others which is why most forget it can selfmill. By using hedron and glimpse the uro miller can switch to a selfmill strategy if facing cards like leyline of sanctuary. This means uro becomes playable from the graveyard.Search the tag uro-mill to see my older lists of it, as well as a grand conspiracy about an r&d member ;)Kakagai:There are a few hedron shift decks in the mtgvault past, but they may be hard to track down. The oldest forced archive trap combo in magic was the trap + the green card fertillid. In legacy you could also use noble benefactor and veteran explorer. The updated version of benefactor in modern is that black symmetry card + relic of progenitus.
Thank you for bringing Ruin Crab to my attention. Some time ago I was playing around with Hedron Crab, some low cmc creatures and Mirrorweave to build a U/G mill deck. I have replaced some of the creatures there with Ruin Crab, which will further increase the chances of the deck.
Mirrorweave is a nice idea. You would have to toy with the numbers though. Too many crabs and weave doesn't really do something, to few crabs and you can't mill with mirrorweave. You should make sure that all your creatures have talents that are weaveable.
I normally don't ask for help, especially on a discussion where the deck doesn't belong to me, but...if you got the time, would you take a look at :https://www.mtgvault.com/muktol/decks/ug-mill/
To all modern players out there:This is the enemy. This is what we will have to face and counter. Be wary, but do not fear. Together, we can and will conquer this titan of the format and revert it to the old times. We will show mill what for. All of us, together, will not hold back. We will show no mercy. To all you aspiring mill players: be afraid. Be very afraid.
He he.You will also have to face the surviving decks, so there will be lots of infighting. My own to beat list from a Miller's view:Affinity (old style), bg infect, humans, merfolk, nahiri prison, and most importantly, other mill.Other millers will be everywhere, so millers should be prepared for the mirror matches.(Stream of thought, cough cough)
