Deck Description

Token Token Token. Lord Lord Lord . Trample. Win.
Elf Synergy baby.

This is my first deck build...I've been playing for about 2 weeks; I'd love to hear feedback. My actual deck is a green/black elf deck. It seems to work well, and more deathtouch in it doesn't hurt, but I'm interested in phasing out the black.

How to Play

The idea is to get out as many tokens/elves as possible. They should be pretty ugly with your lords +1/1 buffs (hopefully you have at least a couple lords out). Use Ezuri or Overrun and the game is yours; maybe.

Pithing Needle sounds like a good bet against someone you're familiar with (or when you know what is dangerous...I don't). I intentionally didn't include a planeswalker in the build.

Deck discussion for Elf Mayhem

if it was me i would take out all of the giant growths and replace them with two more overruns and two parallel lives

Oh geeze; I don't think I've seen [parallel lives] before! Those are definitely going in.

I was thinking about having 4 [overruns], but I have [Ezuri]x2 in there with an overrun ability of his own. I see the value of having a different card type for [overrun] though. Maybe [parallel lives]x3 and [overrun]x3 for an even split? [Parallel Lives] does stack with itself doesn't it?

***Moved/Added***
--Giant Growth x4 to sideboard
--Overrun x1 to deck
--Parallel Lives x3 to deck

I would look at getting elfs out faster than turn 3. If you are going against fast legacy decks, then you will just be starting while they are killing you. Look at turn one and two mana adders to get your archdruid out faster, so he can produce mana for you.

Do you, or does anyone, have a suggestion for a 1 or 2 mana cost spell/creature/etc. to gain mana at the beginning?

I'm aware of [Arbor Elf] (untap 1 forest) and [Llanowar Elves] (add 1 mana)...which is better for my deck?
Any other cards? --I'd lean towards Arbor, but advice?

I am mainly playing with a handful of people I know; I doubt I'll run into many decks moving too fast to make up for a round or two of their attacks, but it's nice to have options!

Hey there! I like your first approach on a magic deck :-D
You seem to have a very well defined idea of what you want your deck to do!
I have some thoughts to share with you... Since you seem to be planning a legacy deck you should consider some changes on your deck to make it faster and more agressive. Consider changing Copperhorn scouts and wren`s run vanquishers to llanowar elves and priests of titania. Both give you fast mana and help with getting that overrun faster. Also consider putting 2 more overruns there to make sure you have them when needed! There are some nice cards you can use in legacy, so check out Vitalize to help getting even more mana. Druids deliverance, gilt-leaf ambush and giant growth could be swaped for other more usefull things... you see, the problem with your deck will be arround turn 5 or 6 if you dont get your opponent killed by then, because you will have an empty hand and your opponent will be starting to get some big hitters on the table, that you wont be able to kill unless you get to be blocked/block them and use a giant growth, right? The way I see it is... just overwelm the enemy with even more elves... Check Sylvan messenger for an easy way to get more cards in hand (you get to keep the elvish promenade also), or other interesting things like Regal force, Genesis wave or lead the stampede.
Also consider reducing the number of forests you use... If you include the llanowar elves and priests of titania you can get an enormous ammount of critters on table by turn 3, with just 1 or 2 lands... unless you keep drawing forests that wont help you win the game. You will probably manage with something as low as 16 lands!

Check my Elf decks to check some more card ideas. Have fun

Hi there! Nice comments!

You seem to be knowing some things about elf decks, I was wondering how you would create an elf deck in standard and modern format since those decks would obviously look different.

Thanks!

I agree with your changes, but the umbral mantles seem a bit useless in my opinion. you would be better with the priests of titania (think of them as smal elvish archdruids you can cast on turn 2 and give you at least 2 mana on turn 3...
Try playing with some cards to give you more cards: Sylvan messenger, regal force, Genesis wave, lead the stampede, gilt-leaf archdruid (dont forget that llanowar elves, elvish archdruid, priest of titania, elvish harbringer and fyndhorn elves are all druids).
Hope you are having fun and that your friends still chalenge you to play MTG :-D

Hey Ricardo,
I really appreciate your input! This'll be quick, and with no definite changes, as I'm tired.

1. I added Titania and Genesis to my sideboard. They will likely go up to the deck in place of...Deliverance, Umbral, Wren's Run, or even Harbinger. Genesis seems like an amazing card if enough mana are available when it's played! If I added Genesis, should I think about removing Deliverance since it's not a permanent (reduces my chance of Genesis being useful)?
2. Druid's Deliverance: does this protect creatures as well, or just my personal health pool?
3. Titania/Archdruid give mana for each elf. Does this include elf tokens? (I'd assume so, but asking doesn't hurt.)
4. Umbral has potential for infinite mana and infinite +2/2 if put on Titania/Archdruid when you have a few elves out doesn't it? If it's capable of infinite mana and +2/2s; wouldn't it be devastating with an added with one of my six trample effect cards? Wouldn't it also allow crazy Genesis usage?

hey there:
1- With priests and archdruids you wont have mana troubles... last night i cast a X=25 genesis by turn 4 or 5 :-D... you wont need druids deliverance
2- Yes, Druids deliverance doesnt protect creats, just you and you wont get it from genesis....
3- Yes :-D it includes elf tokens also
4- OMG I hadnt seen it before!!!! It does with just 4 elfs on table if one is a priest or archdruid!!!... its an easier combo then the intruder alarm! Ill probably include that on my deck :-D Yes... thats devastating!!!
Do you have an octgn account? if you do add me there (ricardobabo).

Ricardo: Thank you for those answers! I'm glad we both like that Umbral Mantle...I think it'll get the job done. I'm thinking I might take out another forest or two in exchange for making one of my x3 cards into a nice and neat x4; maybe a couple of my sideboard cards could make it into the deck as well. I really appreciate the help. This deck has evolved from something playable, to something my friends will have a hard time dealing with!
I might check out octgn, but haven't yet.

***More Changes!***

+ [Priest of Titania]x4
+ [Genesis Wave]x3

- [Wren's Run Vanquisher]x4
- [Druid's Deliverance]x3

Things are shaping up nicely! I'm nearly out of ideas personally, so I'll probably be ordering the cards I don't have in the near future.

Just another thought... you could move naturalize to sideboard and put Acidic slimes in the deck... they stay on the table with genesis wave and you can choose to destroy a land if there are no artifacts or enchants.
Also... consider swapping 1 overrun, 2 harbrigers and 1 elvish promenade for 4 arbor elves, fyndhorn elves or (even better in my opinion) Quirion rangers.

Also... made a few changes on my elf deck also... check it out ;-) you`re gonna love it!!
