In general using Forerunner of the Legion to fetch Etrata is a good idea but is playing 4 copies of Lazav really usefull? In fact, if you haven't something in your graveyard, it won't have any benefit but instead is just a 1/3 card. What showed to be very usefull is The Eldest Reborn in any case if or if not an opponent used to banish Etrata to the graveyard so it can come back very quickly. But what against decks that make heavy use of Vraska's Contempt or Seal Away/Ixalan's Binding. A few counter or hand control cards could be usefull.Thought Erasure seems to be a good card to me after several hours of playing it. Let an opponent discard cards that might get dangerous to you and also fetch for Etrata. Unmoored Ego seemed also as a good option especially against decks that focus on a single card like Teferi and don't have any other chance to win the game. I often ended getting a cup of coffee while my opoonent tried to get a chance to win the game after I removed his 4 copies of Teferi from the deck and anything else he could do was to play Nexus of Fate again and again and again and again ... you see ;)I could also suggest Enhanced Surveillance when you reach the situaion to run out of possibilities to get Etrata back, simply shuffle it into your deck.-- Oh just forgott: +1 for using Etrata, the most interesting Legend in standard I think

Hi Thanks for the comment.I was going back and forth on Lazav and was gearing to using it with Etrata, ...then realized after your post it wouldn't work half as well as i was expecting as Lazav keeps it's name and Etrata get's specific on if Etrata hits rather than This creature. So the original idea was to cheat some of the effect but thank you for the realization. That being said i'd probably still run 2 Lazavs as it copies other useful things like Vona and Nightveil. The Surveil 1 ETB is aslo a very nice touchThough Eldest reborn seemed interesting at the time, Life manipulation with the Axis seemed far more appealing as an alternate win condition and to drag the game on. Imagine being beaten to an inch of your life and turning the tide of reversal with one card, it's like cancer, then getting chemo'd, then return to cancer after remission. The only enchantment hate that gets to see much play now a days is Cleansing nova and well Assassin's trophy to boot. In most cases, these would commonly be used in other aspects rather than the unsuspecting Axis.. Though i do agree with your last point in the event Etrata hit's the graveyard. But since this deck was not meant to utilize the surveil mechanic, i almost feel i can kill two birds in one stone with Devious cover-up in this regard. Counter, Exile and put four cards of my choosing back into my decks..... uhhh yes please. More likely to protect Axis if needed, as well as recycle the Etratas.Though hand manipulation seems to be a very common aspect to Dimir, i went against it. This deck was made for one thing and one thing only. Poke till death. So i do see what you mean with the thought erasure, and even if disinformation campaign was suggested for that matter. But i feel this is why the Dimir boss cards, (Etrata, Lazav) don't see much play. Playing hand manipulation just takes away from what the deck is trying to do, so in order to refocus i felt i had to go against the grain so to speak. In Hindsight i feel 26 lands might be a bit high but i think i can certainly slim to 24, with some other modifications i'm also looking at price of fame. Though there's not always gonna legendary creatures i found i couldn't take a chance with Cast down. Sure there's vraska's contempt, but even so a little to overkill to just get a planeswalker as an added bonus. We already got Vona for that. What peaks my interest with price of fame is although it's 4 cost, it get's cheaper with the legendary creatures which appear more than half the time and cause most of the head aches. The deck manipulation is a nice bonus as well. So though Vraska's contempt is an all-round better card, price of fame more suited the purpose to get the deck out and rolling. With all the creature hate in this deck i'm not so worried of planeswalkers i can't already hit.I'm gonna start working on the side board for the control match up. I fear this is were some of the hand manipulation will have to replace the creature hate. probably ixalan's binding aswell. Thanks for getting me re-hyped about this.
