Deck Description

Cradle of Vitality deck

Basic premise: Gain lots of life and turn said life into massive creatures. Hilarious.

Card Breakdown:

Ageless Entity: If your going to be gaining massive life anyway, why not include this guy? He'll basically be cradling himself every time you gain life. Might consider a spirit loop to give this sucker life link and he will grow fast.

Wall of Reverence: This guy is wonderful, he drops for three, allowing you to hold fort while you set up your cradle, giving you bits of life all the while. Once, you're set up he will give you massive chunks of life off of your most cradled monster. He is the reason, why you should only consider spirit loop, since he basically gives your biggest guy a lifelink he doesn't have to swing to activate.

Auriok Champion: She serves as a soul/essence ward here, but has the add benefit of being pro black and red making her significantly less killable as well as making her a great blocker against any red and black creature. Mostly there to hold fort for the first few turns.

Boon Reflection: I just couldn't resist. I believe this is a replacement effect so you don't have to activate the Cradle twice.

Kitchen Finks: Already a great card, but if you cradle them the -1/-1 counter from persist will go away making them able to trade and persist again.

Renewed Faith: Mostly included as a cantrip, it works like a cheaper version of reviving dose.

Goldglow moth: An early blocker if you need it to be, but later you can block and activate cradle to make it a powerful blocker

Faith's Fetters: I considered using recumbent bliss here but I preferred the single installment, since it synergistic better with the Cradle, its also able to affect other permanents in a pinch, and locks down activate ability. All and all you can probably go either way on it, so take your pick.

Mycoloth: This guy stands out the most, but when i noticed that it doesn't specify HOW those +1/+1 counters got there I knew I couldn't leave this guy out.. Needless to say, this is the guy you're going to want to cradle. He gets huge AND makes tons of 1/1s so you don't have to worry about the normal problem of his lack of trample

Knight of Meadow Grain: I had two extra spaces in the main deck so a slip this guy in there, the first strike lifelink combo makes early game a bit easier of the deck. I would recommend putting more in if you are planning to fight people that aren't black/red (since our Auriok will be less useful in those encounters). Or you could try playing Rhox War Monk

Other Suggestions:

If you want to splice red into this, I'd recommend lightning helix. You could also go with Tamanoa + Pyroclasm + Cradle. This has the potential to put massive amount of counters on the creature of your choice.

If you are having trouble with finding combo pieces you might want to use Well of Lost dreams to increase your card draw. Also, if your play group runs a lot of "destroy" effects you could use Shield of the oversoul. It makes this deck's favorite beaters indestructible so you can laugh in the face of wrath effects and terrors.

If instead your having trouble with chump blockers you might want to run a bramblewood paragon to give your buffed up creatures trample

Deck discussion for Cradle of Naya

Nice idea, this deck packs quite a bit of life gain and powerful creatures, my only suggestion is a costly one, my life deck (I haven't added to the site yet) packs the planeswalker known as Ajani Goldmane. His First two abilities can gain you life or power you creatures up further, but once he can remove 6 points you can summon an Avatar Token whose power and Toughness are equal to your current life!

Wall of Reverence + Boon Reflection + Avatar Token = Massively Powerful Creatures

Keep up the great work.

Considered Ajani... my only problem was I felt he was slow of the bat. His second ability is good, but I didn't feel any particular synergy with my deck thought his 'ultimate' is indeed good. Making Serra Avatars is always great. I might put him in the place of the knight or the auriok depending on how my play testing goes.Or possibly put him in for Renewed Faith. I'd need to test this deck more, and while I may not include Ajani I acknowledge that I certainly WANT to

hmmm...

how about Folk Medicine...

would work well with your mycoloth guy.

Just a thought, might be hard to get a hold of as well but I dont really know what to suggest :l You got a nice deck here mate.

Plz rate my white swarm deck, thx.

Sadly this deck is Extended legal so I can't put Folk Medicine in, however, if you want to make a legacy variant it is indeed good. However, I would suggest Divine Congregation instead since it basically heals for the same amount in a single installment (which is always better with the cradle since you won't have to pay twice) The reason i left that off is that once I get my mycoloth down and he's churning out saprolings I've pretty much already won. So both Folk and Divine are at their best in situations where I have things under control and using them would be overkill. They won't help me in that frail period of turns 1-6 when I really need the life gain to offset damage.

This deck is pretty cool. The idea sounds cool. But some of the cards you chose are supoptimal. For life gainer spells: Beacon of Immortality and Invincible Hymn are awesome. For sheer awesomeness, try boon reflection, doubling all your life gain. For your creatures, try (maybe) essence warden and martyr of sands. This deck looks awesome otherwise.

Good Luck, kung-fu_elmo

PS: plz comment on my decks, specifically "Guys on 'Roids"

Beacon might be good and invincible is indeed nice however, they are both a far too slow. I want all my life gain sources to be things I can use early on to stem the tide and then later could still be valid life gain sources. Beacon comes down AFTER cradle (due to mana cost) so that means if I'm having mana problems and can't get my cradle up the beacon can't be cast at all meaning it will often be dead weight in my hand. Likewise with the Invincible but more so since it costs an entire 8 mana there will be many many games where I never accrue the mana to play it. Further, when I can play it (very late in a game I will probably have already stablized) I more often than not, will already have lots of life, possibly even more then the amount of cards in my deck, meaning the 8 mana might only net me a less than stellar amount of life, or worse, actually cause me to loose life.

Already have Boon reflection, I'd include more but, again, I don't want to risk having two of them in my hand at once

Also, I already included a variant on essence warden in my Auriok champion. She is an essence warden that is also pro black and red making her more useful if I need to block some black and red critters early on and makes her less susceptible to spot removal.

The Martyr, however, is indeed a good suggestion and I should probably slip her in somewhere.

two things:
#1: Boon Reflection is cumulative so if you have 2 in play you gain 4x life, 3 in play nets you 8x life and so on.

#2: an excellent card to put in this deck would be Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendent from Saviors of Kamigawa. It is a 2 colorless 1 white drop that comes in as a 2/2 creature with the ability "if you have more than 30 life flip rune-tail". The flip turns it into a legendary enchantment that prevents all damage done to all of your creatures. With the fact that you will most likely have 30 life by turn 3 or shortly thereafter..you can drop a legendary enchantment for 3 mana that makes your huge creatures even huger since they can't die from direct damage! Check it out.

The effects are cumulative. If you have two in play you gain 4 time as much life, and if you have three you gain 8 times as much. [Shadowmoor FAQ 2008/04/21]

just in case anyone doubts point
