Deck Description

This is the first deck I have ever made. Having little knowledge about cards was not helpful. But I noticed the Angelic Accord card and thought it would work great with the Bubbling cauldron trio. When you can set up, this deck overpowers everything.

Unfortunately there are a few issues with it, and it is still kind of under construction. It's easily taken over by aggro because of the lack of control or creatures, and if the creatures are stolen by control decks, setting up is impossible. I need some advice, but please remember that I can only afford cheaper cards.

This deck is modern for two cards - Vampire Nighthawk which I replaced Soldier of the Pantheon with (which really isn't a terrible card, vampire is just for more opposing creature control), and Luminous Wake. Just replace all those cards with the sideboard cards to make it a standard deck. Swords to Plowshares is a recent addition and hasn't really been tested (I haven't drawn it at all). This is also a really cheap deck besides the Swords to Plowshares card. This deck is really just for fun though, and it has a bit of trouble winning especially with a starting hand that doesn't have 1 plains, 1 swamp, a newt, and cauldron. Most of the times I have won with it, I needed Merciless eviction to clear their creatures or enchantments out. If you have ANY tips on how I can control opposing creatures better with the deck, I'm all ears.

How to Play

Anglic Accord is really the win condition for the deck, although you dont need it. To activate Angelic accord, you need to gain 4 or more life during that turn, and before the end step you get a 4/4 flying Angel token. I have a lot of ways to get the 4 life in my deck.

You can either put gift of immortality on a newt and sacrifice it every turn (you gain 4, they lose 4, target creature gets -1/-1), or put luminous wake on a ram and have it take hits from any creature under 5 toughness to get 4 life. Luminous wake or gift of immortality can really be used on any of the creatures to your advantage. Having two cauldrons and an immortal newt is a game winner alone, because you can sacrifice it on each player's turn - that's 8 health for you and -8 health for them. Having one or more angelic accords out is really tough for them to deal with. Orzhov Charm is useful in rescuing your newt, saving your cards with auras on them from being destroyed, or can take out bothersome creatures if you have a good amount of life to throw away.

Deck discussion for Lots of Life Gain = Angel Army

Maybe, take out two orzhov charms, and add two Blood Barons of Vizkopa. Seeing he attacks for 4 gaming you four life each time triggering angelic accord. Plus with the festering newt combo, in two turns he is a 10/10 life linked :)

So cool but too expensive...
I would love to put him and Archangel of Thune in the deck, but I'm too poor for Magic.

I am 19. But most of the people down at the shop range in the mid to upper 20's and have a good 10 years experience. I find my place among the 15 year olds because I have more of a chance to beat them hehehehe

Excellent!!!!! I have no idea how I did that for you but that's cool :D

You know the upvote that's reputation. I'm one of the "15 year olds" but not one you know. I don't even know you I'm just saying I'm 15. I have a chance to beat people it's just that I under estimate stuff a lot, seeing I never lose at school.

The 15 year olds are in a similar financial position as me, so their decks are waaaaay more fair than some others.
Who knows. Maybe you do know me :o probably not though
You're probably way better than I am. I can't even make a proper deck by myself yet. I spent a lot of time an research on this angel deck, not knowing anything about anything when I made it...to see it completely crash and burn in at least every other match is really discouraging.

Maybe add a few doom blades or ultimate prices to help get rid of enemy creature threats?

I will be sure to look them up. I did consider doom blade but I wasn't sure about it because there are a lot of black decks floating around the place I usually play

ultimate price may help then, it deals with mono-colored creatures instead of nonblack
