Deck Description

My soldier deck has undergone a few changes since Return to Ravnica came out, and I think it's become significantly better. As always, the focus is to get as many creatures out as possible as quickly as possible.

From RtR, we have Precinct Captain and Fencing Ace. Both of these creatures make excellent attackers throughout the game, so there's really no reason to not use them. Double Strike works nicely with all the +1/+1 given by several of the other creatures, and the extra soldier tokens that Precinct Captain can generate are a real plus too!

An older card I added is Enlistment Officer. Not sure how I overlooked him before, but his ability is excellent. Particularly when you have a Daru Warchief out already so you can play the new soldiers for less! Since he has First Strike, he isn't all that useless as an attacker/defender either.

The last item of note is the Ruins of Trokair. White mana ramp is pretty hard to come by, so this seemed to fit the bill. True, it's a bit of a gamble, but getting a Preeminent Captain or Daru Warchief out a turn early can be worth it.

Deck discussion for Soldiers Soldiers Everywhere

preeminent captain is your best creature, why limit yourself to only 2?

Because I only have 2! :P
Really though, Preeminent Captain tends to die too quickly to really rely on. In the early game, he's the first thing to be targeted by removal. In the later game, I have enough mana to make him irrelevant. True he can be the most useful card in the deck (ideally, I can use him to play a Captain of the Watch turn 3), but it's risky. Still, maybe it's worth trying the deck with a couple more to see how it goes.

Okay I have been meaning to make this deck soon, some solid cards you could think of adding are Phantom General(all tokens get +1+1), also crusaders of odric for more PT equal to number of creatures, darn attended knight definetely is a good choice 2/1 first strike who comes out with a one one soldier...Also captains call which brings three soldiers so lots of options...
Also for some nice soldier removal Intrepid hero-check him out hes awesome!!!

This looks fun though I love soldiers!!!

I only think you should have 4 preeminent captain's because my brother runs 4 in his soldier deck, and it wrecks, If you find your creatures constantly dying, consider adding Rebuff the Wicked

Also, do you ever really suspend Benalish Commander? Consider putting Crusader of Odric in instead. He is the exact same creature except for one less.

I always suspend Benalish Commander... Sure, he comes in a turn later, but you get a free soldier token and he can attack a turn earlier. Seems good to me.

NIce deck, always love to see soldier decks arround ^^.
As for suggestions:
1) I would increase my land total, arround 22, specially if you are using the ruins (after you sacrifice them is a real pain!);
2) Most soldiers you are running are humans, so Champion of Parrish might be a good add instead of the Vanguard;
3) I don't like the Enlistment Officer that much, I would replace it for a Premminents, because it might "kill" removals or lands if you need them
4) With that many creatures you should really think about Elspeth Tirel (puts lots of soldiers and gives you lots of life ^^)

I have a soldier deck that as received some attention, I made some changes since them, if you want check it and you might find something usefull there (mostly based on tokens also and Cathars):

I think you can improve your deck by replacing...okay you got me, I wouldn't change anything with this setup you have. I am a little puzzled why there's no "Hero of Bladehold?" She has anorexia, but is quite potent ;-)
