Original Deck made by Angry_Potatoeshttp://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/wrathreos-god-of-board-wipes/#c2704958Athreos EDH! Built around playing creatures with nice ETB effects, killing them, and then either getting them right back to my hand or slowly taxing my opponents' lives away!Any suggestions are appreciated.
The name of the game of board wipes, and LOTS of them. Being Indestructible, Athreos, God of Passage himself has no real fear of board wipes, and his taxing ability makes wiping my field a real pain in the life points for whichever opponent(s) I choose. And, of course, there's the obvious bonus of clearing the field of opposing creatures.Due to this deck's nature of nuking the field every few turns (usually regardless of the actual board state), this deck is full of creatures that, at first glance, seem fairly weak. I'm talking about cards like Augur of Skulls, Reliquary Monk, Wall of Omens and the like. In actuality, these cards are surprisingly helpful at gaining incremental advantage alongside Athreos. Their cheap mana costs and somewhat weak abilities make my opponents question the 3 life they would have to pay when they die; but then again, the flip side of that is, yes, they have low mana costs, meaning if they DON'T pay the 3 life, I can easily cast them again and again, and suddenly their "meh" abilities begin to add up.
