Deck Description

[Inspired by NorthernWarlord's Budget Series]

Are you new to Magic: The Gathering? Is your collection of cards lacking? Do you need a new deck for your game night with your friends? Well look no further than here!

The Rakdos guild of Ravnica is known for being a demon-worshiping cult that is quite fond of its dark and scary background and history! Many of the cultists are completely mad, and enjoy pain and torture so much, they can deem it "fun." Now those cultists are in your grasp! Combining cards from both the Return to Ravnica and Khans of Tarkir cycles, along with some cards from various other sets, you'll enjoy unleashing pain upon your foe!

The Budget / Starter series is to help people to who are either new to the Magic: The Gathering, or simply those who can not afford to spend a lot of money on booster packs or individual cards. It can be of help to beginners or experts alike.
(Each contains a 60 card deck, and a 15 card sideboard, that is ready to play with! Each main deck includes 5 rares, and each sideboard contains 2 rares! If you are unsure how the deck works, please see the How to Play below!)

How to Play

Unleash and Aggro!

[History]
The Rakdos guild was first seen in the original Ravnica cycle where its main ability was Hellbent, which focused on having no cards in your hand. When Return to Ravnica was created, Rakdos resurfaced with a new ability called Unleash. This ability allows for your creatures with this ability to enter the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter; however they can't block. This ability helps to create a strong Aggro deck, which is what I have created today. Along with cards with Unleash, you are also given cards with Raid and Outlast, both which made their appearance in the Khans of Tarkir cycle.

[How to Play]
In this deck, you want to strike hard and as fast as possible! Start off by summoning some Rakdos Cacklers and Unleash them! Pun intended. After attacking, you should play War-Name Aspirants or activate Bloodsoaked Champion's ability, as both effects can only be triggered by attacking. If you are having trouble blocking because of creatures, you can summon Goblin Shortcutter to help with the unblocking, or you can simply Terminate your opponents' creatures. When you get 4 mana, at least one red and black, play Exava so that you can start having a lot of fun with your attacks. Exava gives your creatures with +1/+1 counters haste, which will allow the creatures you Unleash to attack the turn they are summoned. Along with Exava, Mer-Ek Nightblade also gives your creatures with +1/+1 counters Deathtouch, which might keep your opponent from blocking your creatures. If you want to boost your creatures to be more powerful, you can enchant them with Deviant Glee or Ordeal of Purphoros. These cards might be best attached to Hellhole Flailer.
On the sideboard, you are given cards to help in certain situations, and should help you in most. However, while these cards are helpful, they are best not used unless in situations where you feel these cards would help you most.

[Important Cards to this Deck]
Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch: This card not only gives the creatures you Unleash Haste, but she herself is a 3 / 3 with First Strike and Haste, that can become a 4 / 4 with those abilities.
Rakdos Cackler: An early hitter who will be sure to cause pain for your opponents should they not remove the threat quickly.
Terminate: This Instant allows to remove any pesky creature from the field, and it can't escape this destruction with Regeneration, as creatures destroyed with this card can't regenerate.
Mer-Ek Nightblade: This creature allows for the creatures you unleash, plus itself, to gain Deathtouch. This can cause your opponent to rethink about blocking your creatures, as they will lose their own.
War-Name Aspirant: Should you attack, then summon this creature, you'll have an attacker who has a +1/+1 counter, which can benefit from Exava and Mer-Ek Nightblade, but you'll also have a creature who can avoid some of your opponents' early blockers.

Deck discussion for [Starter] Unleash the Pain!

I'm liking this. the only downside is if you don't strike quick and fast you can't block whatever they throw at you.

Yeah. But that's why you don't have to Unleash everything, but like you said, if you do go for the full-on attack, you gotta do it quickly, as is the way with most Aggro decks.

This is true, I'm new to the side and just stumbled across your decks. I'm currently going through the Ephara's Chosen deck. I really like the feel of it. And all my decks are casual modern. I want to get into Standard and just need a deck that appeals to me.

Unfortunately for me, I really don't have access to Magic where I live, or the money to keep up with Standard. So I just like to make decks that people might enjoy. Most of my decks are built for Modern, with a few being for Standard.
