[Inspired by NorthernWarlord's Budget Series]Are you new to Magic: The Gathering? Is your collection of cards lacking? Do you need a new deck for your game night with your friends? Well look no further than here!Take charge into battle with some very large creatures in Naya's Monsters! Spook your opponent with big creatures, then pump them up to make them even scarier! Get the mana you need fast with cards like Rampant Growth and Knotvine Mystic, then swing in with your newly upgraded creatures like Polis Crusher and Fleecemane Lion! The Budget / Starter series is to help people to who are either new to the Magic: The Gathering, or simply those who can not afford to spend a lot of money on booster packs or individual cards. It can be of help to beginners or experts alike.
Big Creatures! The focus of this deck is to get out big creatures, then make them bigger. The Monstrosity ability was introduced in the Theros block and says at the cost of X amount of mana, this creature will get +1/+1 counters equal to the number beside Monstrosity. Some creatures, like Ill-Tempered Cyclops simply become more powerful when their ability is activated; however, creatures like Fleecemane Lion gain effects from becoming Monstrous.Start off by trying to ramp up your mana fast. You will need a lot of it to play your cards, so plays card like Rampant Growth and Knotvine Mystic first, gather that mana, then spend it to play your higher costing spells. Since almost all of the creatures in this deck have a power of 3 or greater, Garruk's Packleader will help you draw cards faster. When you're ready begin to play your big creatures, ramp up the mana with Knotvine Mystic, activate the Monstrosity ability, then swing in hard for some serious damage.Key Cards to this deck:Knotvine Mystic / Avacyn's Pilgrim: Helps you ramp up mana for your pool fast.Fleecemane Lion: Cheap big creature. While monstrous, very hard to remove.Garruk's Packleader: Almost every single creature in this deck has more than 3 power, so this card will help you get to the cards you need faster.Rampant Growth: Helps you get the land you need quickly.Gruul War Chant: Buffs up your creatures, and makes them much harder to destroy in combat.

Wonderful! Bravo! Bravo! You wrote those texts with such passion, that I cannot do much else than admire it! If any starter ever asks me how to build decent Naya deck, I'll guide him/her here. This deck is almighty and deadly, but still a single thought crossed my mind:How about some more early gamers? Like, Avacyn's Pilgrim? Manaramp is after all extyremely valuable in decks that contain these majestic beasts. But as I said, this deck is wonderful! I love it!Thumbs up, thumbs up!

Thanks for the support and suggestion Northern! It's always nice when I can get some feedback on the decks I make.
You really deserve some feedback on this deck. It is damn good. Mind if I do some "advertising" for you?
Sure, go right on ahead!
I'm having a mini panic attack because I play control and don't even know where to start with suggestions for creature based decks. Maybe add mizzium mortars to get rid of pesky creatures? On the other hand, Northy's advertising works.I just remembered. I played a 2hg and 1 of my opponents did a t1 pilgrim into a t2 sage into a t3 sigarda (20/20 with increasing savagery).
Maybe sideboard Mizzium Mortars? Or do you think I should swap out Warleader's Helix for them?
Sideboard for now.
Northy sent me :)When looking for good Starter decks you want:1) Easy to understand deck (you do not want to overwhelm a new player)2) Well rounded deck (just because it is easy to understand doesn't meant it can't be well rounded)3) Cheap costing deck (start out showing them it can be a cheap game, if they want to spend more money later, they can). This deck meets those requirements :)1) Easy to understand deck: Simple. Big Creatures. Get them out with mana ramp. Can't get much more beginner, basic, easy to understand than that. Introduces new players to idea of importance of mana, creatures, life/damage/points. 2) Well rounded deck: It has a defined Win Condition. It has decent lands. It has decent mana curve/occurrence. It has mana ramp. Draw power. Both direct damage and combat damage. Has spells that pump up your creatures. 3) Cheap costing deck: Under 20 bucks. That says it all. If the deck is fun and hooks them into playing Magic, then they can go and spend more money (if they want) on expensive cards. But you started them out with Mtg knowing that you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to have fun at Magic. Now, that I patted your back and complimented your deck, as well as liked it...let me complain, a little:Your Starter deck contains:Monstrosity, Vigilance, haste, creatures that tap to produce mana, creatures that draws you cards on certain conditions, hexproof, indestructible, trample, creatures with protection from enchantments, creatures that destroy enchantments based on certain conditions, cards that tap creatures, cards that search your library, cards that search your graveyard, and convoke. All of those different cards and abilities could be overwhelming to a new player. I mean, something like Meglonoth or Naya's Charm, to a beginner...could be very difficult to understand. Besides that...I like it. Maybe Sideboard Naturalize, to teach a new player that green is amazing with artifact/enchantment removal.
I can see where you're coming from on the abilities of the deck. But, thank you for your feedback. In my newest Starter deck, Ephara's Chosen, I try to only focus on the Heroic ability. I don't go crazy with cards like Sage of Hours, I try to stick towards the simple +1/+1 counter heroes, with the exception of Battlefield Thaumaturge. I'll try to consider the fact that not all new players will understand every single ability in my future decks.
He could have added infect to the mix with triumph of the hordes.
This is great work! If I ever hear anyone asking for a simple naya deck i'll send them here.
Thank you Saber!
Wow. Because of all the feedback I've received on this deck, it's put my deck up on the Hot tab! I want to thank you all for the support, especially Northern. I'd never get anywhere if not for him and his advertising!
That's what happens when us popular/semi popular vaultateers advertise. Most users are fine with advertising as long as there is some sort of comment besides "check out. .." Friends of Northy are friends of mine. You are more than welcome to advertise on my decks.
Congrats by the way.
Thank you KJ, I'll be sure to spam all your decks with mine! Nah, just kidding. But thank you, in all seriousness.
By the way, if you don't mind me asking, how did Northern advertise?
I'm not guaranteeing a comment on everything, but I'll help where I can.
Go look at his comments. Each one is specific to the person whose deck it was posted on.
"By the way, if you don't mind me asking, how did Northern advertise?"It isn't recommended all the timeBUTsimply post your link (or the link of any deck) to another person's deck. Example. Northy came to me, on one of my decks. He said, basically, "Hey, this guy built a really decent deck that I like, do you mind going over and taking a look?"Then he posted the link to your deck:http://www.mtgvault.com/legendaryhero7/decks/starter-nayas-monsters/I copied the deck link and it sent me here. *******************************************************************************************************Note: Why i said it isn't recommended all the time.Everyone wants comments/likes/suggestions on here. Sorta "i pat your back if you will pat my back" is what I have seen work. You can post a thousand people links to your decks...but if you don't first help them out...build up comments/reputation...they won't look at your decks.Further more...if you going around posting your deck links to everyone...without helping them...you might even get downvoted. *******************************************************************************************************What I have found that works1) Go find a deck that you like or thinks needs a lot of work2) Suggest cards to the person that will make his deck better3) In return, if he thanks you for helping his deck out...ask if he can return the favor4) Post your deck link to his deck
Groovy deck, love some of the hard hitters! :D I love decks that seem rather chilly billy at first, but have the tendency to explode and escalate quickly :-)
great deck, very similar to one my friend has, except he has xenagos god and godsire. I think the mayael's Aria in combo with retaliator griffin is a very sweet combo for this deck also. Very fun deck though looks super cool
I was asked to look at this deck by Northy, so here I am. I have a few concerns about the mana curve. It's a tad backwards and could get a large speed boost if you cut a few of the 4s and 5s for more 1s, 2s, and 3s. Perhaps more mana dorks to really give it a jump. I also don't think that as it stands the deck can efficiently run Nissa's Expedition. Hope that helps!
Well, at first when I was making it, I tried to go for as Standard as I could, but then that changed. Do you think I should replace Expedition for the good ol' Cultivate?
nice deck bro I am a big fan of naya!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Cultivate can handle your mana problems efficiently, and I really like to use it in my three-colored decks. Maybe it could fit here. Just remember that it costs nearly buck a piece.
its pretty good
Cultivate is always a good standby, though Harrow might be fun to chain with Rampant Growth...Plus I think it's cheaper.
true bro :DDDDDD
