You should stay away from terramorphic expanse and go for the pay a life ones. One life for a land and a better draw is better than having it come in tapped.

Are you kidding? Protection from a colour for one turn is only good if you can use it at an instant speed... The only way for that to happen would be to get a Join the Ranks. The chances of having both ready for that situation are not very high...
