That's a lot of pump spells for only 4 creatures. You definitely need more creatures in a deck like this

Well my biggest suggestion would be to look up a naya blitz deck in that case to get a feel of the creatures that do well on the offense and build from there. I'm not a fan of net decking but there is definitely a lot to be learned by looking at other successful decks
It depend on if you want to go aggro or midrange. If you are going aggro drop the mana dorks and bump up some of your low cost creatures (boros elite, wasteland viper, wojek halberders, rancor too, etc). Midrange will be about the opposite with you keeping the mana dorks and increasing the number of big impact spells (Assemble the legion for example).
This truthfully isn't much of a control deck (at least from what I generally play as control). Its tempo for sure (like a human version of delver decks). Counter and bounce would definitely help if your goal is tempo. I would keep as many creatures as possible with detain though. Because its such a temporary effect you need as many bodies on the battlefield at any point in time to push through that damage. You can probably drop something like lavina just to move towards a more aggressive tempo (although she is a great top end bomb).
Its an interesting mechanic. Its just hard to find its niche. Hopefully my essay wasn't an overload
Rootborn Defense is the number one choice for me. Given populating small tokens is not particularly exciting but it gets the job done with the indestructibility clause. Boros charm obviously serves a similar purpose. The other token hate besides sweeps is Olivia and curse of death's hold. With Olivia, you just have to hope to have a searing spear when you need it or pray she doesn't get above four toughness before your turn and a mortars. Death's hold is taken care of in your sideboard with sundering growth.
^One of means you should be playing a control deck if you ever wish to consistently see it
Bloodrush can only be used when the creature is attacking sadly so it will only save it from an in combat searing spear. I'd suggest less two of's. That's always my suggestion for a deck that wants to perform consistently. Two of a card means you want to see one every once in a while, three means you want to see about one a game, four means you always want the card and multiples copies are awesome. This isn't true for control decks because they have so much card draw but for your typical deck those are the general guidelines
Much better fit, more targeted pump and more tokens. Perfect solution
^ Also true story (continuing the pattern). But well worth the extra turn wait. And if you wait an extra turn (turn four) you can evolve the renegade krasis off the frog lizard token
I really like the inclusion of the krasis. Its quite original. If you were willing to spend a bit more loxodon smiter is a pretty standard inclusion. Put him in instead of the knight of glory
I see. Hmm. She is a solid planeswalker just a consideration
^ True story. It'd work with a strangleroot geist though
Ehh. I guess. You'll also have a bunch of 1/2's until turn five (not particularly useful). I just wish legion's initiative was realizing its full potential
Alrighty, I may not be the best source to ask about a detain deck as I personally place the detain keyword as the worst of the block.lol. Hmm, with this deck though I'd say you could go for some innistrad block artifacts maybe seeing as all your creatures (minus one) are humans. Actually on that note champion of the parish would be a straight up bomb here. You'll be able to push him through with your detain ETB effects and better yet trigger his ability because they are all humans. Ascended lawmage.... is cool. I love hexproof, but sadly this is not its home. Luckily you can pull those out and slap in some of those aforementioned champions. Now onto Lyev decree. Its a great thematic card but I'd rather have something like martial law here. And finally render silent. Seems cool but its tricky to cast and if you think about it your opponent will rarely be casting more than one spell a turn unless you're playing against the nut draw of naya blitz (in which case a (three mana counterspell does nothing). I'd say you could afford cyclonic rift here instead because what this deck cares about is getting stuff on the battlefield out of the way (including planeswalkers). Or alternatively syncopate. Its a great card for a creature heavy deck where you need the versatility of a potential two drop counter. So in summary: -3 Ascended Lawmage, -4 Lyev Decree, -4 Render Silent, +3 Martial Law, +Syncopate (or Cyclonic Rift), +4 Champion of the parish
^ Zegana and other top end threats also help evolve your renegade krasis and make the most of it
I REALLY like this deck (+1). Seems well built. I would only add another win condition. Maybe throw in a Jace, memory adept or even a mind sculptor (helps you dig more). Probably swap those with urban evolution actually as they accomplish similar goals (drawing cards) but give you the option to win. Only problem is they won't be protected by safe passage or riot control... Its a trade-off to consider though. Also I think you could use some more card cycling. Think twice is a great go to, azorius charm is actually better in your case so you can use it late game to stop up an attacker.
Half of Legion initiative's ability is wasted here. You'll kill all your tokens.
Seems like a pretty nasty idea. Those creatures can all really pack a punch. +1
This looks like a much more solid list now with the extra burn. I'm wondering if Tamiyo is the planeswalker for this deck or not. Chandra might be a potential inclusion instead.
