Black Control

So I had brewed a different version of a mono black control deck in standard and I realized that deck was kind of all over the place and running out of card draw.
This brew has some card draw and advantage with Gonti and Ob Nix along with Succumb.

Also, with Zombie aggro and Scrapheap Scrounger in the format, it seems that Flaying Tendrils is in a good spot here, hence the 4 copies in the sideboard.

Black control, unlike blue control, is all about removal and hand disruption, you can call it maybe a different form of removal (hand removal). And that's what this deck does and that's the plan you should follow.

Currently the meta is really close to aggro and the fact that you can just bring back cards like Dread Wanderer and Scrapheap Scrounger from the graveyard is really why I'm leaning to ways to exile them. With Kalitas and Yahenni's Expertise you can pretty much wipe out most of the creatures and make your own zombie army. Sometimes turn 4 removal might be too slow so that's where you can additionally bring in Flaying Tendrils and take out cards like Oath of Liliana or maybe Noxious Gearhulk since they are mostly targeted removal.

Against the control matchup (assuming they run blue because Torrential Gearhulk is super powerful). You pretty much take out most of your removal and bring in cards like Scarab Feast, Liliana, the Last Hope, Transgress the Mind, and even Dispossess. If you can successfully Dispossess their Torrential Gearhulk, or maybe their Temur Tower, you've pretty much removed their win condition. Also, Scarab Feast is great at taking cards out of their graveyard you don't want their Gearhulk to target.

Against the Marvel Match up, you want to bring in all the Trangress, Disposses, and possibly even Liliana to curve down a bit. If you can remove all of their Marvel, they pretty much have to rely on their energy creatures so possibly keeping Yahenni's Expertise might be a good idea.
