Deck Description

sorry in advance for any spelling mistakes english is not my first language
:-)

This deck is baste around Makihito Mihara's R/G devotion deck he top 8ed with in the Theros pro tour.
for those of you who don't know, the deck is build around making a lot of mana as fast as possible (aka ramp)

and there are a lot of ways to make that early mana:
Elvish Mystic,
Sylvan Caryatid,
Voyaging Satyr (+Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx ),
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx + Burning-Tree Emissary.

and when we got that mana
we need to drop down the fatties and stabilise the board with:

Polukranos, World Eater,
Arbor Colossus,
Ruric Thar, the Unbowed,
Nylea, God of the Hunt,

now we got our fatties down and have stabilised the board but we cant stop here we need to make sure to fill up our hand so we don't run out gas (and believe me you can empty your hand quite fast if you draw a good hand)
for card draw we use:

Domri Rade, (make sure to use that -2 fighting ability!!)
Garruk, Caller of Beasts.

okay, we got the basic idea of the deck now lets take a look at what i have changed:

Removed:
one: Nylea and
three: Scavenging Ooze
Added:
two: Boon Satyr
two: Ruric Thar

reason to the changes:

Nylea, God of the Hunt:
I didn't want to remove bought because its very nice to give your howl team trample
but not so nice i want to risk drawing two

Scavenging Ooze:
it is easily the weakest card in the original deck so i would like to try something else

Ruric Thar, the Unbowed:
really underrated card in my opinion!
good against most midrange strategies,
really really good against control strategies, if they don't have an immediate answer the game is just over, no explanation needed,
and its actually pretty good vs. aggro, a 6/6 with vigilance and reach,
insane on offense and defense at the same time.
and its all in a deck that only runs 9 non-creature spells (which also is very important for bought Garruk and Domri).
and the "drawback" (attack each turn). please, on a 6/6 with vigilance...
this guy is insane, welcome to the family Ruric!

Boon Satyr:
this is manly an attempt to make the deck less exposed to the supreme verdict decks
do to the fact that this deck is particularly weak against a supreme verdict.
that, and some times this deck just want to be the aggressive and that is some thing this card is good at.

i am planing on taking this deck to my local FNM but have jet to do it so hurry!!
leave a comment on how stupid my changes are and what i should do instead :-p
thanks in advance!

Deck discussion for [standard] Gruul Ramp

I feel like 4 Nykthos is too many, you don't really want it until your third or fourth turn and you only want one. I'd cut that to 3.

I can't help but want at least one Borborygmos Enraged or Worldspine Wurm in here just so you can cheat it in with Garruk's -3.

well it isn't really that bad to draw two Nykthos, you can tap one for its ability and then play the other, sac the old one and then tap the new for double Nykthos in one turn

and a Borborygmos Enraged or Worldspine Wurm are just a little too hard too hard cast if you dont draw Garruk and i'm trying to avoid dead draws as much as possible.
that sad I honestly have condensed it myself

Very nice deck! I would suggest Savageborn Hydra, the double strike can really end the game faster than you think.
