Deck Description

Hey everyone, this is the start of a little deck list series that I'll be starting. These decklists will be a compiliation of cards for a deck that are usually inexpensive for those who can't afford the power cards for the certain formats they're in.

I'll be going into a little detail about each card and what it does for the deck, also providing alternatives where I can. Thank you and I hope I help out a bit.

Lands x20
Plains - Dirt Cheap

Creatures x15

Kor Duelist - This little guy here is probably the main part of the deck. Costing a little 1 white mana, and adding in double strike when equipped makes this guy easily become beastily. Pretty cheap in cost to. Most go for 40 cents or less.

Kitesail Apprentice - One of another needed card in the deck. That +1/+1 and flying allows this guy to soar over early non-flying defenses that your opponent has. When equipped with a simple Pistol Seldge, he's a 5/3 now hitting for 5. Dirt cheap, as in 5 cents.

Kor Outfitter - Now, he's not NEEDED however he makes equiping your Pistol Sledges easier without sacrificing another artifact. He also can be a beatstick, beating a solid 2/2 for 2 white mana.

Armament Master - The Kor's Lord, except better. Adding on certain equipment allows him to be two lords, which can make certain cases where you can swing for game without even equiping anything to stuff that deals damage. Around 50 cents to a dollar, maybe.

Sun Titan - Now, I know what you're thinking. Sun Titan? He's not a Kor and he's expensive sorta. However, there's only two, and he's great recursion. EVERY PERMANENT in this deck other than him costs 3 or less, meaning you can attack with him and in response attach a Pistol Sledge to him or some other artifact. He's absolutely needed in here, as he adds a lot to the deck itself. Around 6 dollars. Not hard to find as he's pretty new.

Artifacts (Equipments) x12

Piston Sledge - These things are the bomb. A quick +3/+1 for 3 mana with auto equip makes it a really hitter on most of the creatures in the deck. It allows you to swing for a 5 turn 3 flying, or 8 double strike on the ground on turn 3.Dirt cheap as well.

Accorder's Shield - This is an easy 0 drop artifact with a defensive bolster. However, it has a high equip cost of 3 mana which means you could take this out for Spidersilk Net with is a 0 drop for +0/+2 and reach with an equip of 2 instead. It's nice, but half of your creatures either dont need to worry about flying or they have them itself. Dirt cheap.

Inquisitor's Flail - Now this thing is funny. When equipped to either Kor Duelist or Kitesail Apprentice it makes them dealy. Now, this equipment doubles combat damage on both ends of the stick. Kitesail can usually fly over it, meaning if you have a Pistol Sledge on it then you do an easy 10 damage on a turn 4. Or you can swing with a Kor Duelist and it'll more than likely kill the enemy creature before it takes damage (since if it's a equipped it had double strike, which means it deals first strike damage and then normal combat damage). It'll deal double damage for both blows. So with a Pistol Sledge it can deal a total of 16 damage! 8 on the first hit, and 8 on the second blow. Dirt cheap.

Trusty Machete - This is an easy artifact that was really thrown in as a buffer. It's an easy +2/+1 for 1 and 2 to equip. Not bad, and not hard to find either.

Instants/Sorceries x9

Day of Judgment - This is an easy wrath card if things aren't going your way. It's pretty cheap, as in 2 dollars roughly and can wipe the board if your opponent has gained a faster advantage over you before you can swing for game. Deals with a lot of pro white stuff, too.

Unmake - This card is probably the most easiest, and cheapest remove card you could find for this mana cost. Path to Exile is harder to find and about $4 while this is about $1. Being able to remove large threats and/or possible blockers allows your little guys with giant weapons to hit your opponent easier.

Brave the Elements - There's only two for a reason. This isn't NEEDED but its a good finisher if your opponent has set up along with you. Choose a color, and game. Its usually the outcome with this card. Dirt cheap.

Enchantments (4)

Oblivion Ring - Great removal spell. Allows you to get rid of other permanents that piss you off or impair your win conditions. Could also potentially draw the game if you get three out. Around 50 cents to a $1.

I made this deck a while ago. I've edited it since it's first form which was a mess of equipments that you could use if you wanted but I found these equipments to medle correctly with the deck itself. It's cheap, with a cost of where I got everything (a total of $20-$30) and it's pretty fun to use.

Thank you for reading. :)

Deck discussion for Modern Kor for the Penny Pincher

I’m a fan of the Kor tribe too. My deck started out pretty budget, but it grew a little bigger over time:
http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=228291

If there would be a budget need for Sun Titan, I would go with Argentum Armor. The same manacost as the Titan and works great with the Outfitter or the Armament Master.
I would take out the Accorder shield and add 4 Bone Saw, since you’ll be sacrificing it at one point for your Piston Sledge, you’ll be able to equip it to the Duelist for 4 damage turn 2. Also I know the Trusty Machete is only a filler, but I’d fill it with Sylvok Lifestaff instead. Also dirt cheap and it’s faster than Trusty Machete.

I like the Inquisitor's Flail and it can get pretty intimidating equipped to some Kors but I also have a lot of love for Trepanation Blade, it’s one manacost more to equip but it also works as removal, not a must but also pretty budget.

I like the fact that you made a deck on a small budget looking forward to the other decks in your series.

Trep blade really is only good in Limited. If I was, but I like the bonesaw idea. Maybe a Shuko, as well?
